Halle Bailey, our new live-action Little Mermaid is an actress, singer, and songwriter! She has quite a background and she’s only 19 years old. She’s been around for some time now but just in case you didn’t know here are some things you need to know about our new Ariel. One thing you should know: Halle is here to stay and she is not only grammy-nominated, humble and grateful but an all around star who is ready to slay.
Halle Bailey is 19 and from Atlanta, Georgia. She has a sister, Chloe who is 17 and also a singer, songwriter, and actress. They’re both very close to one another and almost look like twins. But even though they’re not twins they played twin sisters on the show Grown-ish with Yara Shahidi. All of this is exciting but Halle and her sister got their start on Youtube doing covers of songs like Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” where they soon gained millions of views and an amazing career.
Sisters Halle and Chloe have an R&B group with one another called Chloe X Halle a now Grammy-nominated duo on the rise. They have two albums out, The Kids Are Alright from 2018 and The Two of Us from 2017. Their music has gained massive popularity over the years and for their young age, the music they put out has a mature sound and low-key vibes. You should definitely check them out, their most popular songs being “Happy Without Me” and my personal favorite, “The Kids Are Alright.” Oh yeah and that one song on Game of Thrones, “Wolf at Your Door,” you should check that out too. Not to mention, you’ve probably seen them singing at the Super Bowl this past year, which is a huge deal for them and their music reaching a large audience.
Chloe X Halle took to Grown-ish as twin sisters attending their freshman year of college as track stars. Their famous coworkers include Yara Shahidi the main character of the spinoff show from Black-ish. They’re both great actors on the show and their screen presence is only the beginning to their soon to come legacy. Becoming The Little Mermaid in the Disney live-action classic is another step towards both of their destined stardoms.
And if you haven’t checked out Grown-ish yet, well you just have to. It’s such a relatable show for anyone in college or experiencing the beginning responsibilities of college life.
Beyoncé basically gave Chloe X Halle a foundation to becoming the stars they are before Youtube did. The as seen on youtube duo found fame after posting a cover of “Pretty Hurts” and gaining lots of traction where they, of course also caught Beyoncé’s attention! If you haven’t seen the video here’s a link so you can check it out from 2013. Anyone would be amazed by their young talent, mature style and vocals, as well as their cute and approachable personalities. So it only makes sense that Beyoncé fell in love with them just as we all did.
Beyoncé became both Chloe X Halle’s mentor while signing them to her label, Parkwood Entertainment. They were later added to the starting acts of Beyoncé’s massively attended tours in Europe and the US.
