All The Best Fragrances That Will Get You Ready For Fall

Summer, like all seasons, has to come to an end at some point. Although I’ll miss the cute summer dresses for nights out on the town, and days spent lounging by the pool in tiny bikinis, I’m so over the dreadful heat and nights spent tossing and turning because my dad refuses to turn on the AC. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t be more ready for cooler days and watching the leaves change.

We’re not here to just discuss the weather, though. Fall means we gotta ditch those girly, floral fragrances that disguised our sweat smell in the summer and spray on something a little more reminiscent of pumpkin spice lattes, cashmere sweaters, and jeans so worn they almost feel like sweatpants. Here are our favorite fragrances that will get you ready for the fall semester. They smell so good you’ll have a hard time putting them back on the shelf when spring rolls around.

NEST Cocoa Woods

My stepmom used to give me NEST candles for Christmas and that’s when I became obsessed with this brand. Their fragrances are powerful, but not totally overwhelming. All you need is a little spritz and the scent lasts all day. It truly is amazing how good these perfumes are! In return for the candles, I gave my stepmom one of their perfumes and ever since then she can’t stop talking about how many compliments she gets whenever she wears it. Random people will come up to her and ask her where she got it, so definitely don’t pass up this brand if you want a dreamy scent that lasts through whatever you have going on that day.

Cocoa Woods has Sandalwood, one of my favorite scents, which couldn’t be more perfect for fall. Reviews on Sephora’s website say it’s “sweet, deep, and creamy.” It’s complex and mysterious, and it’s very reasonably priced for a luxury perfume. This fragrance will have you dreaming of drinks with friends by the fire when the cool, fall breeze comes in.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana French Grey

If you’re looking for a spicy scent to match your fall mood, this is the fragrance you need. It’s not a girly fragrance, but I wouldn’t classify it as manly either. It’s in a realm all by itself. What I mean is, it’s interesting and sexy without aggressively screaming those adjectives in your face. Even the bottle it comes in is chic as shit. This is a fresh fragrance with floral notes that will go perfectly with whatever you decide to wear that day.

Jo Malone Honeysuckle & Davana

This fragrance is for the girls who aren’t totally ready to put down their fruity summer scents. It’s a fresh, fun scent with just a hint of smoke. This brand makes some of the best fragrances I’ve ever tried. They last so long and are so intense I could still catch a whiff of my perfume even after I washed my clothes! This scent gives you just enough fall vibes to get away with wearing this long after the summer fades away, but it’s not so heavy that you couldn’t wear it with your favorite dresses. One spray and you will fall in love with this scent.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle

Coco Mademoiselle has gained a lot of attention from tons of different fashion and beauty magazines for a reason. It’s light and airy, but the patchouli notes give it a more complex scent than other floral fragrances. You can pretty much wear this scent through any season, but I like it for fall because it brightens up the heavy coats and sweaters we have to start lugging around come October.

Don’t let the brand name fool you, this fragrance isn’t ridiculously expensive, and it will last you a long time. Plus, the smell won’t turn sour like other cheaper perfumes do when you don’t use the whole bottle within a couple months. It’s 100 percent worth trying this one out.

Diptyque 34 Blvd. St. Germain

This wonderful fragrance is equal parts floral and spicy. It smells chic and expensive, and while it isn’t the cheapest perfume on this list, it’s totally worth the investment. Tons of reviews mention they used every last drop not long after buying it, which, at least for me, doesn’t happen often with perfumes. It’s such a delicious, unique scent it would be hard to find one this good from other brands. It just might inspire you to spend a week in Paris eating croisstants, wearing red lipstick with a knotted scarf, and drinking red wine in the middle of the day (as if you needed an excuse to do that!).

Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb

Despite the floral, summery-sounding name, this fragrance is totally meant for fall. I’ve been using this perfume pretty much daily ever since my sister gave it to me as a birthday present (did you notice both my stepmom and my sister gave me scent-related gifts?! Are they trying to tell me something?), and never once has it failed to deliver a delicious scent that doesn’t fade after, like, 10 minutes.

It even survived a recent incident on the NYC subway when the air conditioning wasn’t working on the train, and it was rush-hour. I miraculously came out of that hell hole still smelling as fresh as a daisy. Once I run out, I will rebuy this perfume before I go out searching for another. They also make a perfume specifically for hair that you might want to try next time dry shampoo isn’t cutting it.

Mugler Angel

My mom has been wearing this scent for ages, but don’t let that statement fool you. This is no typical old lady scent (not that you’re old, mom, sorry!). It’s perfect for every girl, no matter what your scent preferences are. It’s girly without being sickeningly sweet, and sexy enough for date night or a simple drink with friends. The hint of patchouli appeals to women who want something earthy, but still elegant. It also comes in a crazy cool bottle, which is just an added bonus to this fragrance.
