10 Work From Home Outfit Ideas To Help You Get Sh*T Done

Top 5 Staple Items Every Fashionista Should Have In Her Wardrobe

As someone who has worked from home for over 2 years now, I know the importance of getting dressed every day even if you don’t leave the house. In order to stay sane working from home, you should always get up, get dressed and do your hair and makeup. Just a semblance of normalcy will help you feel accomplished before you even start your workday.

On the other side of this necessity to get dressed every day is the obvious fact that you are working at home, which means you don’t have coworkers that are going to see your outfit. With that in mind, the key to a good work from home outfit is comfort. Whether your go-to outfit is leggings, stretchy jeans, bandeau bras or ultra-soft t-shirts, just be comfy! It is a hundred percent acceptable to stay cute and casual since you are at home. Save the fun outfits for dates, going out with the girls and for coffee shop workdays. Keep your at-home work outfits simple and comfy and focus on your work! Check out these work from home outfit ideas to help you get your shit done!

Jeans + White Shirt

First things first, do not count out the classics. Since you don’t have to worry about impressing anyone with your well-put-together outfits, just keep it simple. A great pair of jeans (with some stretch!) and a classic white t-shirt gets the job done while looking polished. Skip the high waisted jeans since they can be uncomfortable after sitting all day and make sure they either have some serious stretch to them or are jeggings. When it comes to tops, only opt for the softest of t-shirts. There is no point in getting a t-shirt if it isn’t PJ-level soft! If you do end up having to leave the house for an in-person meeting, cup of coffee or lunch date, punch the outfit up with some fun shoes!

Comfy Overalls

This is a look that is fairly new to me but so fun and easy! Since I am short (barely five foot one!) it is incredibly hard to find a pair of overalls that fit right but once I found a pair of comfy cotton ones, I haven’t looked back! Whether they are linen, sweat pants material or stretchy jeans, overalls are such an easy option since all you have to do is throw them on over a shirt! The best part is, since you are working from home you don’t have to feel weird about having to take them all the way off to go pee (truly the only downside to overalls and rompers.) Overalls are also an awesome outfit option because you can wear them year-round, just change the shirt you wear under them and add a jacket for fall or winter, or keep it short-sleeved for warmer weather! Pair with a bun and get stuff done!

Jeans + Cardi

Obviously comfy jeans are a trend in work-from-home-fashion and it’s because a comfy pair of jeans goes with everything and is definitely a necessity. Along with stretchy jeans, you should have a great boyfriend-style or long comfy cardigan in your wardrobe. I am usually cold and if it was up to me, I’d be swaddled in blankets while I worked but that tends to hinder productivity and make you want to nap so that’s definitely off the table. You can’t beat having a cute option to warm you up that looks stylish and is cozy. Just say no to the oversized college branded hoodie and try a more polished looking cardigan for an option to stay comfy and ready to work!

Casual Blazer + Jeans

If you are having a video-chat meeting with your boss or clients, it doesn’t mean you have to pull out the full business suit. Throwing even a casual blazer over your top will make you look effortlessly cool and put together while still remaining comfy. Look for a blazer that isn’t structured or has ruched sleeves to keep it casual and don’t be afraid of trying out less traditional colors like yellow, pink or green for a fun touch to your outfit!

Leggings + Slippers

Finally, if you’ve been up all night, have a ton to do or are just reallllly not feeling like getting dressed, pull out your favorite pair of Lulus, add a striped t-shirt, your cardigan and slippers and call it a lewk. I own probably ten different pairs of slippers and slipper socks. Something about wearing slippers makes you feel somewhat like you are wearing shoes and somehow that makes you more productive (trust me, it’s a scientific fact or something.) I love a good pair of slippers with a rubber bottom or a moccasin-style so they feel more like shoes but if I just want to feel cozy, slipper socks do the trick.
