10 Fun Outdoor Games To Play At Your Next Family Cookout

A big family cookout this summer is the perfect opportunity to play a bunch of fun outdoor games!

Here are some of my favorites to play that are always a hit in my family! Hopefully they’ll be a hit in your own family as well!

Cornhole

Cornhole was introduced to me when I graduated high school in 2016, being that there was a game at every graduation party I attended. This being said, Cornhole is such a fun game with such an easy set-up/clean-up, making it a great choice for your next family cookout! Just be careful not to get too competitive when the competition starts to heat up.

Giant Jenga

Giant Jenga is one of my favorite games out of this list! After growing up playing regular Jenga with my sister, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for this game. Giant Jenga has been trending on Pinterest since last summer, and it hasn’t lost any of its appeal as we approach this summer! Whether you decide to build your own game set or purchase one on Amazon, this is definitely a great game!

Frisbee

Frisbee is just a classic game that never seems to get old. Being that it can be as simple as tossing a frisbee back and forth, it is inclusive of all different skill levels and ages, making it a great choice for an outdoor game with your family this summer!

Spikeball

Spikeball is a great outdoor game to play that will get everyone up and active! Known for being an extremely competitive game, just be careful because it can bring up some heat between you and your family members.  This being said, if your cookout is reaching a bit of a lull in energy, bring out the Spikeball set to liven up the party.

Giant Connect 4

Similar to Giant Jenga, giant Connect 4 is a great game to bring out during your next family cookout. I recommend purchasing a set on Amazon because they are extremely affordable and will last you a lifetime! This game is fun for all ages, and it will definitely be a hit at your next family outdoor barbecue.

Croquet

I grew up playing croquet with my sister and always loved it so much (even if we did not have any clue what we were doing). Since this game can be played with up to six players, it is a great way to include a large number of family members. Check out cheap croquet sets online, and it’s a purchase that will definitely be worthwhile at your next family cookout!

Darts

Darts are a classic, and there is not much more needed to be said about it. While you may have to be a bit careful if your family cookout includes a number of little ones (in order to protect them from injuring themselves), this is definitely a great option for the older crowds at your next outdoor gathering! With just a few darts and a dartboard, this is a super fun outdoor game to play!

Ladder Golf

Ladder golf is such a simple game in theory, but is so much fun! You can easily build your own ladder golf set with PVC pipes, or just purchase one at the nearest sporting goods store (or Amazon, of course)! This being said, set up a game of ladder golf at your next family cookout, and it will definitely be a hit!

Badminton

Badminton is another great choice for outdoor games! Whether you consider yourself sporty or completely terrible at all physical activities, it is fun nonetheless and a great option for an outdoor party game this summer! All you need are a few rackets and a birdie, and you and your family will be entertained for hours!

Limbo

Limbo is such an underrated party game. Something about it just brings out a joyful and youthful vibe to any gathering, and luckily it is incredibly easy to set up and clean up! If you’re looking for a great game to bring laughter and life to your family cookout, limbo is the perfect choice for you!
