What’s The Deal With Alcoholic Ice Cream?

Alcoholic ice cream: boozy twist on a summer favorite. We've got the scoop on the flavors and where to get it this summer.

I know what you’re thinking. Alcohol and ice cream? Together? Usually you can make fun creations with your ice cream by adding different toppings or mixing flavors. But this “boozy twist” takes ice cream flavors to a whole new level. Behold, alcoholic ice cream.

The Scoop

The creators of this unique treat are a company called Tipsy Scoop. It’s an Italian family owned business that started back in the 1800’s, when the current owner’s great, great grandfather first brought the dessert to Scotland. Over time the family business grew from a pushcart to dozens of ice cream parlors around the nation.

However, the company didn’t always sell alcoholic ice cream. The new creation was founded by Melissa Tavss. She took the family business and made it her own by mixing alcohol into ice cream recipes.

Flavors

Tipsy Scoop sells 14 classic flavors including: Chocolate Stout and Pretzel, Strawberry White Sangria Sorbet and Vanilla Bean Bourbon.

The ice cream “barlour” also sells seasonal flavors, which is currently Frose All Day. It’s a sorbet made with peach pureé and Pink Rosè.

Where To Find It

Tipsy Scoop doesn’t just serve ice cream in their store. They also cater for weddings and corporate parties in New York. All you have to do is log on to their website and fill out a form for your event. There are numerous Tipsy Scoop retailers located all around the United States, including three in Florida. To find one nearest you, check the store locator on their website.   What if you don’t live in New York? Or near a retailer? No worries. Tipsy Scoop ships anywhere in the United States. You can order party packs or custom pints. They also sell ice cream cakes and sandwiches, gift cards and clothing items.

All of this is pretty exciting BUT the liquor laws of the US still apply; you must be 21 and over to order from Tipsy Scoop, and all of their flavors are up to five percent alcohol by volume.
