7 Easy Hairstyles When You’re Running Late

You need to know some easy hairstyles for the inevitable day that will come when you’re running late from missing your alarm, or forgetting to set one the night before. We’ve all been there, when your body wakes you up from feeling like you’ve been asleep for just a tad to long. You yawn followed by a big stretch as you reach for your phone to look at the time and see how many more precious hours of sleep you still have left. Uh oh. You actually missed your alarm, and now your scrambling out of bed, throwing on whatever clothes you first lay your eyes. Forget makeup, there’s no time for that. But, you have to make your hair at least somewhat presentable. When you’re in a rush, running late to school or work, here are seven easy hairstyles you can do that doesn’t take much time before running out the door.

1. Half Up Bun With A Braid

The first easy hairstyle to do when you’re running late is the half up bun with a braid. This hairstyle is great because it takes little time, looks like you put a lot of effort into it, and doesn’t really require you to brush your hair. Just run a comb through your hair – if you choose – braid one little front piece and add that to the top half section of your hair, and finish it off by tying it into a bun. Maybe add a scrunchie too if you have the time to find one. And there you have it, a cute, seemingly effortless, boho hairstyle.

2. Loose Fishtail Braid

This next hairstyle might require a little more time and skill, but is still relatively quick and simple to do. To do a fishtail braid, separate your hair into two sections, holding one section in each hand. Bring one small section of hair from the outermost area of the left section over to the right section. Then, take a small section of hair from the outermost area of the right section and bring it over to the left section. Repeat this until you’ve reached the end of your hair. With the fishtail being loose, it allows you to do it a bit faster, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Messy is cute.

3. Pigtail Braids

The third easy hairstyle for when you’re running late is the super easy pigtail braids. Perfect if you’re on day 3 or 4 hair, it’s feeling a bit greasy and you don’t have time to take a shower, you can scrape your hair up into this hairstyle. Part your hair into two sections, putting each side into a ponytail. Then just braid the hair down to the bottom and tie off with an elastic. This hairstyle would look cute with a grungy outfit like the girl in the picture below. The contrast between the grunge and the cutesy pigtails is such a look!

4. Down With Two Braids In The Front

The fourth hairstyle is leaving your hair down with two braids framing your face. It’s really easy, really quick and fools everyone into thinking you woke up with plenty of time to get ready for the day. Literally all you have to do is brush your hair, section off the two strands of hair, braid them and tie them off with an elastic. You can even do this when you get to class, or in your car really quick before work, mirror not necessarily needed. Nobody will even suspect you’re running late!

5. Ponytail Bubble Braid

Next is a ponytail bubble braid hairstyle. The bubble braid has been a trend for some time now. It’s cute, different, and not hard to do at all. Pull your hair back into a ponytail, then use an elastic and tie your hair again a few inches down from the ponytail hair tie, repeat this until you have all the bubbles down your hair.  So easy! Plus, it is really easy to change this look into another hairstyle too: high pigtail bubble braids, low pigtail bubble braids, etc.

6. Ponytail With A Side Part

When in doubt, draw inspiration from Bella Hadid. Don’t be fooled, this hairstyle looks difficult but is actually not at all. It’s basically just a ponytail with a side part, and it’s up to you if you want to wrap hair around the ponytail itself, too. To achieve this look, section off the hair that you will swoop off to the side. With the rest of you hair, just tie it into a smooth ponytail. Then, you can take some hair from the pontail itself and wrap it around the hair tie, using a bobby pin, you can pin this piece into place. With the hair you sectioned off in the front, swoop it to one side and leave it tucked behind your ear or pin to secure. Spray with some hairspray and it should last all day. Easy, cute, and most importantly: quick to do!

7. Messy Bun

The last hairstyle on this list is probably everyone’s go-to running late hairstyle. The messy bun: it never fails. It has to be on this list because it is just so easy to do when you’re running late. If you absolutely have zilch time to do any other hairstyle on this list, a messy bun will have to do. And there’s something about a messy bun that makes people ask just how you did it, looking both perfect and messy at the same time. The messy bun also takes three seconds to do, give or take. So, when all else fails, a messy bun will have your back when in a rush. You don’t even need directions, you already know what to do. Throw on cute sweats or athleisure, glasses, and top it off with a messy bun. Comfy days are the best days in class anyway.
