7 Cute Date Ideas To Try Around Virginia Tech

Dating. It can be awkward, confusing and expensive… especially in college. However, Blacksburg and the surrounding community offer many great places that will ensure you have a great time with your significant other! Keep reading for seven cute date ideas to try around VT!

1. Pack a backpack and take a hiking trip around VT!

Although Virginia Tech is located in a valley, the surrounding southwest area of Virginia is very mountainous. This provides for several hiking trails, which make for perfect dates. Not only do you get to skip your tedious gym workout, but you also have time for conversation accompanied by great nature views.

Pro Tip: Hiking McAfee’s Knob is awesome. It’s about a 4.5 mile hike to the Knob and has an amazing view.

 

2. Go bowling then see a movie at Frank Theatres CineBowl & Grille.

Can’t decide whether to see a movie or go bowling? Well there’s no need to decide. You can do both at Cinebowl. Located just minutes from campus, you can enjoy an upscale movie theater and bowing alley. As if that isn’t great enough, there is also an arcade!

Pro Tip: You can order food at the bowling alley and the nachos are amazing.

 

3. Sip some wine while painting with a pro at Wine & Design in Christiansburg.

This unique company lets you drink wine while unleashing your inner artistic skills. The class is led by an artist who instructs you to make a masterpiece. This unique date will leave you both with a great piece of art.

 

4. Enjoy a picnic in the Hahn Horticulture Garden.

The Hahn Horticulture Garden has the prettiest flowers and is equipped with many benches which make it the perfect location for a picnic!

 

5. Sip some beer and listen to live music at The Cellar.

The Cellar is a restaurant in downtown Blacksburg that is a local’s favorite. They are mainly known for their wide variety of beers and delicious food. Sometimes, The Cellar hosts musicians in the upstairs part of the restaurant.

6. Go tubing or fishing at New River Junction.

Although Blacksburg doesn’t have a beach, it does have something similar. The New River Junction is a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors, tube & fish!

 

7. Choose from an assortment of fresh produce at the Blacksburg Farmers Market!

Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Blacksburg Farmers Market provides an authentic look into Blacksburg culture. Not only can you pick up some fresh produce, but you can also talk to locals.
