5 Recipes To Up Your Chicken Game

There are few meats that come close to the sweet and flakey texture of chicken. Not only is this meat delicious, it’s great for you, having lower fat content and maximum protein compared to that of other meats. Yet if you’re not careful, this meat can come out dry and tasteless. Eating chicken shouldn’t be a chore, and with these recipes it won’t have to be. Here are 5 recipes to up your chicken game.

1. One Pot Chicken And Rice

This recipe is great for when you’re looking for that happy medium of easy and delicious. This chicken rice recipe with it’s butter and chopped veggies, keeps your stomach happy and your calorie count at a minimum. When you don’t feel like doing dishes but want a great warm meal, try this recipe out. 

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup carrots, chopped
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 tbsp onion, minced
  • 2 pinches parsley
  • 8 cups chicken stock
  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into small pieces
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Directions

Begin by melting 2 tbsp of butter into a pot over medium heat. Add in your carrots, salt and pepper. Cover and let cook until soft, around 5 to 6 minutes. Add in your rice and garlic, stir until thoroughly combined with the butter. Add your parsley and chicken stock and turn up the heat to high. Bring to a rolling boil and stir occasionally. Note, be sure to not let your rice stick to the bottom here. Reduce the heat and let simmer for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally and bring to a simmer on medium low and let cook for 12 to 15 minutes. Cover the pot and remove from heat. Let sit for 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy.

2. Chicken Lazone

Are you looking  for a hot chicken dish that is a little creamier than that of chicken and rice? No problem. Chicken lazone is the perfect medium of sweet, warm and creamy. This recipe is perfect for winter and leaves you with a sense of warmth unlike any other. When you’re craving a little relief from the cold this winter, try this recipe out. 

Ingredients

  • 2 large pinches of salt
  • 2 large pinches of garlic powder
  • 2 large pinches of chili powder
  • 1 lb chicken breasts
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 4 tbsp butter, unsalted

Directions

Begin by seasoning your chicken with your salt, garlic powder and chili powder in a small bowl. Toss gently to ensure they are thoroughly coated. Next, take a medium skillet and add your  butter over medium low heat. Add in your chicken breasts and let cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until browned. Transfer your chicken to a plate and set to the side.  Next, heat up your whipping cream. Increase to a rolling simmer until your cream comes to a rolling boil. Add in your remaining butter and return your chicken to the skillet. Coating thoroughly in the cream sauce. Garnish to your liking. Serve and enjoy.

3. Chicken Salad

  • 2 cups chicken, cooked
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 tsp dill

Directions

Combine all your ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Add in your salt and pepper and spread it over bread or in a salad. Serve and enjoy.

4. Slow Cooker Chicken Noodle Soup

  • 1 ½ lb chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 5 pinches salt
  • 5  pinches pepper
  • 8 cups of chicken stock
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 stalks of celery, diced
  • 3 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • ½ tsp rosemary
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • 1 package of spaghetti broken into thirds
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley

Directions

Season your chicken with your salt and pepper. Place it into the slow cooker. Carefully stir in your chicken stock, onion, carrots, celery, thyme, rosemary and garlic. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred, using two large forks. Stir in your pasta and chicken into the slow cooker and cover. Cook on low for an additional 30 to 40 minutes. Add in your lemon juice and parsley. Serve and enjoy.

5. Chicken Curry

Are you looking to up your chicken game with some sweet spice this year? Chicken curry is a great way not only to add that spice back in your life but also that popping color. Curry is famously colorful and great to serve for any dinner party when you’re cooking to impress. 

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 lb chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1 large pinch paprika
  • 1 large pinch coriander
  • 1 large pinch turmeric
  • 1 pinch cumin
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ heavy cream
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 serving of white rice

Directions

In a large pot over medium high heat, add your oil. Proceed to add your onion and cook until soft for around 5 minutes. Add in your chicken and lightly sear for an additional 5 minutes. Add in your garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add in your remaining spices and stir thoroughly, cooking for 1 more minute. Next, add in your tomatoes and broth and bring to a rolling simmer. Stir in your heavy cream and season with your salt and pepper. Continue to cook until your chicken is tender 15 to 20 minutes. Serve over rice and enjoy.
