Is watching porn cheating? This has been one of the most debated topic when it comes to pornography and relationships. If you search this question on the internet, you will be met with every response possible – the majority being, “watching porn is definitely cheating.”
Well, I’m going give you five good reasons that explain how watching porn is definitely NOT cheating.
According to Google, cheating is being ‘sexually unfaithful’ while being unfaithful is ‘engaging in sexual relations with a person other than one’s regular partner in contravention of a previous promise or understanding.’ Unless your girlfriend or boyfriend somehow managed to leap through the computer screen to have sex with a porn star, they’re technically not cheating.
Masturbating is proven to be good for you, even for people who have a healthy sex life. And porn is just a means to help people get off. Think of porn as the hearing aid that helps you hear, or the prosthetic leg that enables you to walk.
Watching porn can actually introduce you and your partner to new sex moves or positions that you never knew about before. With new inspiration, you could try these new moves with your partner (PS. You don’t need to try everything you see – some things are better left to the pros). In all actuality, porn could potentially help your relationship!
The sneaking around, lying, and secrecy is apparently one of the main reasons that makes porn “cheating.” I know many people who are pretty comfortable with showcasing to the world that they watch porn. If your honest about it and not hiding it from your partner, it will come off less questionable in the first place.
If you watch porn together, is that still considered cheating? I don’t think so. Watching porn allows the both of you to learn more about each other (i.e. what turns you on and what you don’t like). It’s uncomfortable and awkward the first couple of times, but from then on, it’s smooth sailing.
