One of the perks of going to school in NYC is constantly being around good food, particularly pizza. You can get an amazing slice at anytime of the day no matter where you are in the city. Although all pizza is good in New York, here are some of the best pizza places around campus.
This is my personal favorite of the ones that are closest to school. They have great specialty slices as well as all the classics. If you’re feeling really hungry, go for the Penne alla Vodka slice or the Buffalo Chicken slice (note: they make fantastic hangover cures). If not, the traditional Cheese or Pepperoni never disappoints.
Here’s another great place that’s within walking distance of school. There is an ongoing war at St. John’s between supporters of Regina’s and Vincenzo’s, but regardless they both have great slices. Go for the Margherita pizza or a specialty slice. Seriously, it’s some of the best pizza on Union Turnpike.
Any slice at Dani’s is amazing. Located a little further from campus, it’s perfectly situated right next to the Kew Gardens LIRR Station. Dani’s is the perfect place to grab a slice when coming back from Manhattan after a basketball or hockey game at MSG. Their White Pesto slice is out of this world, but if you want a more traditional slice their Cheese and Sausage slices are just as amazing.
This is another classic pizza place in Queens. Gabby’s is a highly ranked pizza place that has amazing slices. Their crispy crust is the best part of the pizza. Go for the Plain or Pepperoni slice. The cheese is amazing and doesn’t slide off the slice when hot, and the sauce is has just a tang of sweetness that completes the slice.
Once again, this one is a little far from campus, but the slice from Nick’s is well worth it. Go for a slice after walking around Forest Hills. Thin crust with fresh mozzarella, it doesn’t get better than that. Go for the traditional Margherita or the Spicy Pepperoni slice.
