We’ve finally hit it: the worst part of winter. Holidays are long gone, but the cold weather has turned even more bitter. Hats, gloves, and scarves are still a must, but the Christmas spirit is far out of sight. Instead of dwelling on this mid-season funk, I’m here to spread some details about activities for a fun summer 2018 in Boston; I know I might be jumping the gun here, but you might want to keep these in the back of your pocket, it will be here before you know it…Here is your ultimate Boston bucket list for this summer!

June 5-7: Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl

“Oh no! All the ice cream is gone… call the police, this is an emergency!” – Michelle, Full House

All-you-care-to-eat ice cream in early June—what more is there to ask for? The Jimmy Fund’s Scooper Bowl has been quite the success; the diversity of flavors will make it difficult to choose just one. Luckily, the $15 entry and small cups make it ideal to sample many. Go check it out at Boston City Hall Plaza.

June 14-15: Zac Brown Band

“Gonna put the the world away for a minute, pretend I don’t live in it. Sunshine gonna wash my blues away…”

Zac Brown is coming back to Fenway! Thursday, June 14, and Friday, June 15— need I say more? Don’t miss out!

June 2018: The Color Run

“My momma said you gotta put the past behind you before you can move on. I think that’s what my running was all about.” – Forrest Gump

This is definitely a priority on my list. The Color Run, while it doesn’t have a definite date yet, will be in Boston and Foxboro in June. Grab a few of your friends, your comfiest sneakers, and nothing that you want stained! If you are not familiar, The Color Run is a 5k run in which members of the crew will throw colors of rainbow at you. Wearing all white seems to be the most fun!

July 4: Firework shows. Charles River 10:30PM

“Hey, hey, what can I say, I grew up in the heartland USA.” – Thomas Rhett

A staple if you’re not headed to the Cape or up to Maine, the fireworks is an exhilarating night next to your closest friends and family. You might want to get their early for prime seating for the show, and for the mini concert series that they put on! Hope to see you there!

July 7-8: Boston Pizza Festival

“A lovely cheese pizza, just for me.” – Kevin, Home Alone

Immediately following 4^th of July activities, the Pizza Festival is perfect for the foodie in all of us. Similar to the Scooper Bowl, this all-you-care-to-eat bonanza is sure to leave you happily full. The event is from 2pm to 8pm at City Hall Plaza—I can’t wait!

July 21: Cheaper by the Dozen @ Boston Harbor Hotel

“Well, there’s only ten of them…plus two more” – Tom, Cheaper by the Dozen

I gravitated towards the Boston Harbor Hotel’s screening of Cheaper by the Dozen as it is one of my all-time favorite movies. The hotel puts on several movies, including The Notebook—might have to make an appearance a few times for all these classics!

August 2-5: Red Sox vs. Yankees

“I wish I’d never see them again. I wished they’d disappear from the league. Then we’d be winners.” – Pedro Martinez

Nothing quite says summer like a classic rivalry at Fenway. From the 2^nd of August to the 5^th, watch the Red Sox battle for dominance against everyone’s least favorite team.

Boston Concerts You Won’t Want to Miss This Fall

Through August 31: Visit the Lawn on D

“Never a Dull Moment” – Signature Boston

Located on 420 D Street in Boston, this outdoor event space is filled with food and drinks. If you haven’t checked it out before, bring some friends and take some snaps on those cool swings that you see all over Instagram—you won’t regret it!

Through August 31: Yoga on the Common

“Don’t hate, meditate.”

Thinking outside the box on this one, why not get some exercise in on the greens? It would be a unique activity to benefit yourself, or an interesting excursion with some close friends. Yoga takes place on Thursday nights through the end of August.

Through August 31: SoWa Sunday Markets

“This little piggy went to the market…”

SoWa generates an abundance of happy memories for me; while we are not regular consumers here, my family has stopped in a few times throughout the past couple of years. The market is filled with a variety of stands: woven headbands, bags, pieces of art can be found on one side, and fresh produce, meats and honey. I hope you can find a comparable joy that I have experienced with my family, too.
