You NEED To See These Cities If You’re Studying Abroad In Southeast Asia

Are you studying abroad in Southeast Asia sometime soon? Don’t be stingy on the holidays if you are! The number of incredible cities to visit in this part of the world is endless! I could go on and on and barely scratch the surface, but here’s a few of our top city picks that you HAVE to visit if you’re studying abroad in Southeast Asia.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

KL, as it’s commonly known, is the perfect place for anyone studying abroad who is looking for a major Southeast Asian city break! KL is the home of the Twin Towers, the magical Batu Caves and the Kuala Lumpur Tower- one of the tallest towers in the world! As far as Southeast Asian cities go, it’s heavily developed with zig-zagging networks of roads and concrete jungles of skyscrapers everywhere you look. And even then, the Asian roots and cultural heritage still remain a strong and well-kept part of KL’s atmosphere.

Singapore City, Singapore

It ain’t called the playground for the rich for nothing! Head to Singapore if you’re wanting to take a sample of that lush life! It’s clean, modern and very safe for solo travellers! Make sure you don’t miss a chance to visit the spectacular Marina Bay and the amazing view of the city at night. This modern metropolis comes to life under the brightly coloured lights.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

If what you love most about studying abroad is finding a great value-for-money holiday, then Ho Chi Minh is the city for you. It’s an absolute plethora of activities that cost next to nothing and food for incredibly cheap prices! Also known by its former name Saigon, Ho Chi Minh is the most populous city in Vietnam. Take some time going around the market place, and trying the authentic Vietnamese street food is a must. Trust me, It’s ‘pho’ real!

Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok is both temperamental and unpredictable, while also being comforting and warm- and I’m not just talking about the weather. When on a city break it’s great to enjoy the wild hustle and bustle which Bangkok readily provides. The famous wet markets are in a constant state of activity as tourists and locals alike rush to grab a good deal. The incredible nightlife, bigged up by Hollywood, is constantly buzzing. BUT one of the most positive experiences that you can gain from Bangkok is the welcoming atmosphere that lets tourists feel right at home in this crazy city!

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Sometimes, when you’re travelling while studying abroad, it’s not always about the city breaks. Sometimes, it’s not about the skyscrapers, the intense, rhythmic bustling atmosphere of millions of people. Sometimes, what you want is Siem Reap. Temples, ruins, and what might end up being some of the most treasured memories of your life. During the day make sure to visit, Angkor Wat, one of the world’s largest religious monuments. Then, at night be sure to check out the incredible night markets for some local cuisine!
