What Exactly Happens At Kutztown University Freshman Orientation

There are two parts of Kutztown University freshman orientation. The first part is during the summer that you schedule, and the second part is on move-in weekend. This is what happens:

Connections

Connections can be a fun time if you make it. The connections team is super upbeat and obnoxious, which is fun. Orientation is going through some of the systems that they use throughout the university, but it’s a lot of sitting and listening. You get into smaller groups and you have two connections leaders. They will guide you through the orientation schedule. One really exciting thing is that you get your ID. So make sure you look good because the picture will haunt you for the next four years. You are separated from your parents the whole day. They have their own orientation they go through. You get free lunch at the Cub Cafe which is pretty good. It can be awkward though if you’re like me and super shy. At the end of the orientation, you go into rooms based on your major. You meet with one of the advisors and get your official schedule. Orientation is a long day, but it is rewarding after. You also get free stuff, which once your in college, you learn to love free stuff!

Move In Weekend

When you move in, there are some other orientation things you have to finish off. The night of move in day, you have a welcome pep rally. The marching band is there, cheerleaders, and some other speakers. You’re there until about 9 pm. The next morning bright and early, you meet outside of your hall with a group similar to your major. You then head over to the academic side of campus to meet with the dean of your college. Here, they just give you tips on how to be successful, and some details on their past. This is a good time to talk to people, because they have similar majors as you. After lunch. you have to sit in the hot indoor track for hours to listen to a speaker about sexual assault. It is really long, but everyone has to do it.

Kutztown University Freshman Orientation is taking in a lot of information and can be boring, but once you’re done and free, it is great.
