If you have free time, find new ways to turn your boring old clothes into trendy fashion statements. Don’t fear, you don’t have to be Picasso for these projects. Painting denim is super easy and so trendy. All you need is acrylic or fabric paint, and either an old pair of denim shorts, jeans, or a denim jacket. Start by sketching your design with a pencil, and make sure to use a straight edge when necessary. Some great ideas for designs include stars, hearts, logos, or your favorite sayings/quotes. Patches will turn any old denim jeans into a unique pair made just for you. Patches can be bought for super cheap on Amazon, usually coming in themed packs of 30-50 pieces. These can easily be sewed or ironed on to any form of denim. Besides patches of animals, flowers, food, etc., another great idea is different shades of denim patches. These come in packs of different shades of blue denim. This is such a unique style to go with, as you can make one pair of denim jeans show multiple shades throughout, just iron or sew them on!
Tie-dying clothes is the perfect way to remake that old white shirt you accidentally stained. All you need is tie-dye (this can usually be bought in kits that include the squirt bottles), rubber bands, and some type of white clothing. This can include sweatshirts, sweatpants, t-shirts, tank tops, or even white sweaters. Bleaching your clothes is no different than the tie-dying process, but instead of using the dye, you use bleach! You can use the same video linked above to bleach sweatshirts, t-shirts, sweatpants, whatever clothing item of your choice. Bleach removes the color from clothing, turning black material into a reddish-yellow stain. For a really stylish look, bleach one-half of a pair of jeans. This makes for a two-tone look, and you will become obsessed. You’re going to want to bleach all your jeans, and honestly, I completely support you. Hint: Instead of bleach, many people use Clorox Spray or Clorox Toilet Bowl Gel Cleaner to create the same washed-out look.
You’ve heard it a million times, how much did you pay for holes in your pants? Well, now those holes can be free! Seriously, ripped jeans are so fashionable and we’re never going to stop wearing them. If you have a boring pair of jeans that need a little bit of spicing up, rip your own holes! This is so easy to do and is so much cheaper than buying pre-ripped jeans. The best tool to create this look is a small razor. It will give you the perfect rips, and allow the white strings to show. Cropping your clothes is so easy, and soon you’re going to want to crop everything. Literally, all you need is a pair of scissors to create such a trendy everyday look. Mainly, I crop oversized t-shirts that can be worn with jeans, leggings, or shorts. Besides t-shirts, it’s very popular to cut sweatshirts too. Cropped sweatshirts are the perfect piece for any lazy day outfit. You’ll find that wearing this with joggers will be your new favorite outfit. For a classier look, cut the ends off of your XL cardigan. Pair it with jeans for a stylish, but dressier, look. Cropping your tops creates a sexy yet completely comfortable look that’ll never go out of style.
Fringing denim is way easier than it may seem. Not familiar with fringing? Basically, it’s when you let the bottom threads hang loose, or you twist/tassel them together. A popular look nowadays is to fringe the bottom cuffs of your jeans. All you have to do is rip the seam open evenly on each leg and start fraying, or unraveling the seam. Make your jeans uniquely you by embroidering designs onto them. Whether you sew on stars, hearts, letters, or numbers, make them specific to you. You’ve never had more personalized jeans until now! It’s so easy, as long as you know how to sew, to stitch on anything you want. Embroidered jeans I love have designs sewed in on the back pockets, down the side of the leg, and sometimes even trace over the hemming of the front pockets. Whatever you do, make it you.

Adding studs to your shorts, jackets, or jeans will have you pulling off a completely edgy look. People will be asking where you bought them, and you can proudly say you made them.
