Viral Beauty Trends That Actually Work

Viral Beauty Trends That Actually Work

2020 has brought a lot to us. One thing that we saw a lot of this year was so many viral beauty trends. Here are trends we have seen in 2020 that actually work. We have seen these all over Instagram, Twitter, and especially Tik Tok. Here are some that actually work.

1. Magnetic Lashes

To kick off this list, we have magnetic lashes. Lashes really can elevate a simple makeup look to a dramatic and glamorous one. I personally love to use false eyelashes, but I have to admit gluing them on can be time-consuming and can get messy, especially if you need to reapply or adjust them. Many people and influencers say that magnetic lashes don’t work and are scams.

However, I have tried them, and they actually work. Something to note is to definitely be careful of the brand of magnetic lashes that you purchase. Make sure to do your research. There are plenty on the market that doesn’t work super well, but plenty works with that being said.

I have personally tried the Ardell Professional Magnetic Lashes. You can find them at any drugstore or www.ulta.com. Another plus to using magnetic lashes is that you get way more wears with these than regular falsies. With all of this being said, definitely avoid the lashes that come with a “magnetic eyeliner.” I have tried lashes like before, and they only half stayed on my eyes.

2. Charcoal Toothpaste

At first, I thought to myself, “no way.” I didn’t believe that a black toothpaste would do anything for my teeth. If anything, I thought it would make them worse. However, when I tried this toothpaste, I did see a difference. I noticed only after a couple uses that my teeth were significantly whiter. I used the brand, Hello, and I found it at Marshall’s.

However, one thing I did notice was that this toothpaste only removes surface stains. It won’t cure any specific dental issues, but it does get the job done. Many claim that charcoal toothpaste detoxifies the mouth, but it pretty much does the same thing to your mouth as any regular toothpaste.

I started only using this toothpaste one to two times a week, and if it was a lot better for my teeth compared to doing it every day. The bottom line is that charcoal toothpaste definitely works, but it isn’t recommended to use as your everyday toothpaste.

3. The Beauty Blender Washing Machine

Again, this is one of those things where I thought, “no way.” I also thought, however, that it’s super cute. I don’t personally own one, but I have friends who I have watched use them, and surprisingly, they work.

According to my friends, as well as different influencers, they got their washing machines at www.romwe.com. They go for about $6, and it’s a low price to pay for how effective it is. Honestly, you can just hand wash your beauty blenders and get the same result. Still, these washing machines are super cute and can make fantastic gifts to any of your makeup-loving friends.

All you have to do it fill the machine with water, a couple of drops of makeup remover, brush cleaner, or whatever you usually use to clean your beauty blenders or makeup brushes. When you’re done cleaning them, there is a little tube with a spout attached to the end. You use this tube to drain the water, making the process even cuter and fun. Since this only retails for about $6, I would say that they are worth the money.

4. Magic Shaving Powder

Shaving powder is a depilatory powder that you mix with cool water to form a paste, then apply to the skin, let dry, and wipe off. The most convenient thing about this powder is that it doesn’t require a razor. Initially, people mainly used this product on ingrown hairs. People loved this product because of issues with razor burn, that almost everyone faces at some point.

This stuff blew up on Tik Tok, and suddenly everyone was buying it. It was something that became super hard to find. Although this product does work super well, it isn’t recommended that you use it if you have sensitive skin. The safest way to tell is to test a small patch of hair on your skin, and if you don’t have any bad reactions, then you’re in the clear.

This powder should not be used more frequently than once every two weeks. For best results, it should be used approximately once per month. As stated, it is important to make sure that you aren’t allergic do this product because plenty of people have had negative reactions.

5. Red Lipstick

I know what you’re thinking, how could just plain old red lipstick be a viral trend? I learned from the internet this year that putting red lipstick over your dark circles under your eyes hides the dark circles. For this, I used cheap red lipstick. I didn’t want to waste one of my more expensive products trying this out.

I simply spread out some of the red lipstick under my eyes and blended it out with a beauty blender. After that, I applied my foundation as normal. I have terrible under-eye bags, and I was imminently able to see a difference using this red lipstick. All this simply is, is color correcting. With that being said, knowing that a simple red lipstick could solve the issue of under-eye circles is pretty handy.

I can count plenty of times where I would do my base makeup, and my under eyes wouldn’t look the best, even with concealer. However, when I was taking off my makeup later that night, I noticed that it was harder to get off the makeup; I applied where the lipstick was on my face. Other than this, it was a significant trend to try out.

It’s evident that some of these trends are a bit weird and crazy, some more others. Its exciting to try these trends and even more exciting that they actually work.
