The 00’s was a crazy time for fashion. Looking back on it now, there are so many looks, so many outfits that you wore back then that you wouldn’t be seen dead in now. If anything, the 00’s was a bit of an anomaly in terms of fashion. That being said there were some unforgettable, and to be honest, what would be thought of now as insane, celebrity looks. All those outfits your favourite Disney stars were wearing back in the day that you WISH you owned; they’re exactly what we’re talking about! Now, when I think of celebrity looks from the 00’s, mt mind immediately goes to denim. So. Much. Denim. And no one pulled off double (triple?) denim better than Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. This is one of the key celebrity looks from the 00’s, covered head to toe in blue denim.
Wearing a pair of jeans over a dress was one of the most popular celebrity looks from the ’00s. And who could do it better than Kelly Clarkson? These aren’t just any jeans, they’re a pair of boot cut jeans! Paired with a cord hat and a pair of platform heels, reminiscent of those of a Bratz doll.
Avril Lavigne was the queen of cool to me when I was younger. Her style was somewhere between goth and emo and was the only celebrity looks I was interested in. From her all-black outfits to neon pink shoelaces and fishnet armbands, Avril Lavigne was a true ’00s icon.
Bright colours and flip flops were a staple in 00’s celebrity looks, and these outfits worn by the Olsen twins are no exception. The orange and pink maxi skirts, paired with the red and green platform flip flops just scream 00’s. These flip flops were definitely something we all wished we could have when were younger.
Extremely low rise jeans were another very popular piece back in the 00’s, a far cry from the high waist jeans that everyone is so fond of today. This look worn by Keira Knightley shows how these jeans were styled. Paired with extremely cropped tops to show off as much midriff as possible and a cheeky little bit of thong would often be shown peeking out the top of the jeans!
This show stopping look worn by Hilary Duff back in 2003 pays true homage to celebrity looks from the 00’s. Tiny bags that you couldn’t fit much more in than a lip gloss were extremely popular (they’re also on trend again right now, much to out surprise), but this tiny pink bag, paired with the mish mash of colours in the outfit is one of the true celebrity 00’s looks!
Wearing a skirt over a pair of jeans was also very common practice back in the 00’s. Ashley Tisdale has really done the 00’s celebrity looks proud with this one! A gold sequin skirt over her jeans to match her gold sequin dolly shoes, all brought together nicely with the keyboard clutch. True 00’s perfection!
Destiny’s Child were not only 00’s style icons, but icons in the music industry as well! These 3 were the queens of synchronisation when it came to coordinating their outfits (something which A LOT of bands did in the 00’s). Thin belts that did nothing in the way of holding up your trousers and were just there too look good were key pieces in celebrity looks of the 00’s and these 3 sported by Destiny’s Child are some of the coolest we’ve seen!
Paris Hilton, one of the most renowned in terms of show-stopping 00’s celebrity looks. This girl could pull off everything from low rise jeans; to velour tracksuits, to tiny bags. This all pink outfit also screams Sharpay Evans in High School Musical.
00’s celebrity looks took style to the extreme at each end of the spectrum. Skirts were either so long that only your platform flip flops could keep them off of the floor, or so short that they’re basically belt; just like this ultra mini skirt worn by Nicole Richie.
