The 2000’s Fashion Trends You Totally Forgot About

If you were still a kid, a pre-teen or teen during the 2000’s, you might not remember all of the Fashion trends back then clearly. So here are some of those 2000’s fashion trends you probably forgot about but should be remembered years later.

1. Butterfly hair clips

Remember Lizzy McGuire & Buffy the vampire? They all wore butterfly clips in the late 90’s-2000’s movies/series. You probably had them too as a child or even teen, but might have forgotten about it (I haven’t). They were cute but painful but the scalp soreness was all worth it for that one school photo shoot.

2. Layered tank tops

Remember wearing thin strapped tops but wearing them over another top like a t-shirt. It might look awkward now, but back then it seemed like the coolest idea.

3. Striped turtlenecks

You might still own them, but back then they were quite popular. Often in pastel colours & in a chunky material, you probably wore them with flared jeans or a long skirt. It made you look like a granny at 9 years old but that was one of your best looks.

4. Tinted sunglasses

This trend was pretty popular, a lot of girls & even boys wore them in high school, but if you were still a kid in the 2000’s you might not remember them much unless you had older siblings. Pink, yellow, blue, red; any colour of the rainbow existed for these fake plastic sunglasses but they were still worn by so many kids who thought they looked cool just like the Backstreet Boys.

5. Crimpled hair

If you had pin straight hair, you probably wanted it to be wavy or curly. The crimple hair machine was a thing, it gave your hair this unnatural crimpled look which you thought was so cool and cute but would probably roll eyes nowadays.

6. Dress over jeans or trousers

This trend will probably look horrifying to you now but it used to be a trend and you probably wore it too. Long silky dresses over flared jeans or boho dresses over trousers. Layering can be cool or too much, in this case, it might be too much.

Trends in the 2000’s were really funky & cool, but now they would be seen as a bit awkward & outdated. Do you remember what 2000’s fashion trends you wore?
