A statement lip is the easiest way to create a more interesting makeup look – just take your favourite colour with you during the day and you can go from day-to-night in seconds! Long gone are the days of my youth where it was a struggle finding adequate shades and finished – I remember spending months searching for a matte neon orange, before settling on MAC’s Morange (this is not matte). Then there was that summer when everyone was really into lilac lipstick, but the only one on the market was a shiny, pink-toned Barry M one with nowhere near enough pigment for a bold lip. Thankfully, it’s now a lot easier to find the lipsticks for a bold lip in high-street and high-end makeup lines. However, if you are a bit more wary of trying out a bold lip, we’ve compiled some pictures here for inspiration! Pair with a bare face, a slick of mascara, liner, and brow gel to really make that bold lipstick pop:
Black lips look great with a slight tan, as this offsets the gothic vibes of the lip and makes it a bit more modern. It is a fantastic shade on darker skin tones, too!
