Summer has finally returned and that means it’s time to dust off the denim shorts and start styling with Summer outfits. There are many different styles of denim shorts and they can be extremely difficult to style and still feel chic, stylish and elegant. Some of these include distressed shorts, mom and boyfriend cut shorts, and shorts with different embellishments. If you are tired of only wearing your denim shorts with a basic white tee and want more ways to improve your Summer style, then we have some tips for you!
The first of our denim shorts that you should be wearing this summer are distressed denim shorts. These shorts have frayed hems, rips, and slashes. They are best styled with a long-line blazer in a light colour, such as cream or white, and a neutral basic tee.
Complete this outfit with gold accessories – necklaces, rings, bracelets – and a pair of sneakers. Chuck your hair in a bun and throw on a pair of sunglasses and you have a chic and casual look.

Ruched denim shorts are an incredibly cute and fun style of short. The waistband is ruched and pleated, making for an exciting look. Ruched denim shorts look best styled with a graphic tee, chunky sneakers, and simple accessories. This style of denim shorts is perfect for a casual and comfortable look while still giving you a beautiful shape.

Vintage mom denim shorts are the perfect way to have an effortless and chic 90’s inspired style. Mom shorts have a high waist and are tapered for a less fitted and easy look. This style of denim shorts is perfectly styled with a basic tee and a pair of sneakers. Kick the 90’s inspiration up another notch by adding a denim jacket in the same shade for double the denim and double the trouble.

Boyfriend “cut off” denim shorts are supposed to look as though you have taken your boyfriend’s jeans and cut the legs off. These denim shorts are looser, high waisted and have very little shape. This style of denim shorts is best styled with a loose button up white tee or a peasant top – the shirt should be loose to complement the denim shorts but should also have an element of femininity.

This style of denim shorts features a button that rather than doing up in the middle do up off to the side. This look is so interesting and as such, the best way to style it is with a cute, simple crop top so you can still show off the crossover part of the shorts.

Slashed denim shorts are similar to distress denim shorts; however, they are much simpler. These shorts have simple slashes through them rather than multiple rips and frayed edges. These shorts are generally high waisted, but they can be any different style that we have shown.
Any of these previous styles can be made with slashes in them to replicate this style. The best way to style slashed denim shorts is with a grunge tee (such as a Harley Davidson tee) and a pair of chunky sneakers.
