Glitter was massive during my first and second years of university – it wasn’t a night out unless I was still finding glitter in my hair, bed, room, bag…anywhere. Back then, my flatmate and I had to resort to craft glitter and Vaseline. We definitely didn’t have access to all the glitter beauty products that have launched over the past few years. However, it’s one of the biggest trends of the past few seasons. Starting with Burberry’s chunky glitter eyes from AW 16 and AW 18, we saw Giambattista Valli sending models down the runway in full glitter face masks. Glitter’s not just for the eyes, though – metallic lips have also made a comeback, with many pushing full-on glitter over lipstick for a dramatic effect. We’ve compiled some of our favourite glitter beauty products here for a great glow –they’re perfect for festival season, too!
The NYX pigments are extremely affordable and come in a vast range of colours. They do chunkier glitters, too, but the shimmer pigment is great for a subtle, glossy glow. This is one of the glitter beauty products that is easy to use, while giving you that festival vibe.
With festival season coming up, the NYX Metallic Glitter is perfect for that glittery festival look. Try the duochrome shades for a holographic eye.
The undeniable queen of glitter and shimmer and glow, Pat McGrath has recently launched her own makeup line, available on Net-A-Porter for UK customers – pricey but definitely worth it:
For a new twist on festival glitter, try this UV one from Festival Face.
These Stila shadows quickly achieved cult status: try the lighter shades in the inner corner a subtle shimmer, or wear all over the lid for a more dramatic look.
Holographic, glittery lips are massive this summer – try these L’Oreal ones for a really glowy look. The lip glosses are one of the glitter beauty products that are easy to keep on-hand in your purse to do touch-ups throughout your night.
These Illamasqua eyeshadows pack a punch – use with a wet brush for a really opaque look.
These Bobbi Brown eye shadows have a soft, glittery, glowy finish for a more subtle take on the glitter eye look.
This Topshop shadow is a stunning gold/purple mix– perfect for getting that summer glow.
A glitter liner is a perfect option for those of us who don’t want to fiddle about with brushes and glue. Use as a liner for a modern look, or smudge at the corners of the eyes (inner, outer, or both) for a glitter glow.
