Matcha is one flavour that has caught the world by storm, and if you still haven’t tried it, you’re missing out. Matcha green tea is typically served as a hot drink, but it’s found its way into many desserts such as traditional Japanese cakes, Kit-Kats and ice cream. Ice cream is one of the best ways to enjoy matcha, and it’s actually surprisingly healthy for you. If you’re still not convinced, read on to find out the benefits of matcha ice cream that you’re totally missing out on.

1. Matcha ice cream is often plant based

More and more brands are making matcha ice cream using a base of almond milk or coconut milk, which provides so many added health benefits. For example, coconut milk is great for digestion and has full of electrolytes that combat fatigue.

While ice cream still isn’t all that good for you, matcha is one of the healthier flavours you can choose. Matcha is nearly calorie-free, plus it boosts your metabolism and burns fat.

It’s no secret that antioxidants are great for your overall health, and matcha has some of the highest antioxidant properties out there! One cup of matcha is equal to ten cups of loose leaf green tea in the amount of antioxidants it delivers to your body.

Matcha has natural caffeine in it, but it helps prevent the post-coffee crash and jitters you sometimes get because of the amino acid L-theanine, which helps you focus while inhibiting the side effects of caffeine.
