5 TV Characters You Need To Style Your Wardrobe After

Have you ever watched a show and thought “wow, I wish I had her clothes”? So many TV characters have a killer sense of fashion that everyone would die to have in their closets. Here are some TV characters that we think you should style your wardrobe after!

1. Veronica Lodge (Riverdale)

Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) is a strong, confident, boss woman who soars every time she is featured in an episode of the CW’s Riverdale. She tends to dress pretty preppy so if that is the look you are going for, she’s definitely the TV character for you to style your wardrobe after.

One amazing thing about Veronica’s wardrobe is that she channels lots of styles from different decades, but wears them with a modern twist. Sometimes she will look all business, but she might add some high waisted jeans or some rhinestones to keep it youthful and fun.

Her accessories also tie her wardrobe together, whether it be a pearl necklace or a fancy coat with a cape. Even when she wears gym shorts and a tee-shirt, she looks extremely confident and everyone knows that she runs the show.

If you want a modern twist on old styles and clothes that make you feel like a boss, Veronica has the perfect outfits to do exactly that. Her style also blends into lots of different seasons, so whatever the weather, you can rock one of her outfits and still feel comfortable.

2. Hailey Upton (Chicago P.D.)

Taking down some of Chicago’s worst criminals is hard work, but if you are Hailey Upton (Tracey Spiridakos), you can do just that while also looking super fashionable. If you are not one to dress up much and prefer jeans and combat boots, Hailey is definitely a TV character who has a wardrobe you can copy.

One of her classic pieces is an army green bomber jacket, and lucky for you, those are totally in right now. Especially in colder months, a good bomber jacket is a solid choice to stay warm, but you will also look like a total boss.

You’ll also need a pair of combat boots to dress like Hailey, preferably a darker color like black or brown. Her wardrobe definitely leans towards the more earthy tones, so if you hate bright colors, you can’t go wrong with this one. Don’t forget a pair of sneakers too! When you are chasing down criminals and being one of the best cops on TV, you’ll need a solid pair of running shoes to last you throughout the day.

Don’t forget a pair of black or blue jeans. If they have some rips in them, it makes them all the more perfect! You can strut around town looking fierce and everyone will know not to mess with you.

3. Kara Danvers (Supergirl)

You don’t have to be a super-human to have a super wardrobe if you dress like Kara Danvers. The CW introduced fans to Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) in 2015 when the first episode of Supergirl aired. Since then, she has been a beloved character who you can’t help but root for (especially when she’s saving the day).

When she isn’t wearing her infamous super suit, you can catch Kara in some of the best outfits TV fans have ever seen. Her business casual style makes everyone wish they had a polka-dot button-up or plaid pencil skirt.

Kara’s style suggests that you can never have enough colored cardigans or bootie heels. If anyone on TV knows how to rock a funky pattern, it’s Kara. Stripes, flowers, or plaid, Kara can rock it all, and you’ll definitely crave a shopping spree after seeing a few episodes of Supergirl on TV.

4. Jess Day (New Girl)

If you’re into dressing up most days, Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) from New Girl on FOX should be your fashion inspiration. Although she may be awkward and a little offbeat, Jess has a wardrobe that makes TV watchers want to own 40 polka-dot dresses.

To style your wardrobe like Jess, you’ll want to stock up on two things: colorful ballet flats and a bunch of patterned skirts. Nothing about Jess’ wardrobe is dull or pastel, everything is a bright color with a funky pattern.

Jess also wears cute dresses and skirts with a little short flare, so if that is your style, you know exactly how to rock it! Overall, Jess’ style is fun, flirty, and youthful. Her wardrobe screams warm weather and sunny days. Come springtime, TV fans will be running to the store to find something to mimic Jess Day’s style.

5. Olivia Pope (Scandal)

Perhaps one of the most iconic women on TV is Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) from ABC’s Scandal. The best way to describe her style is poised, professional, and put together. She can take on any task, and do it while looking absolutely gorgeous.

To have a wardrobe like Olivia you’ll need to lose the colors and go for a more muted palette. She normally wears white, beige, or light grey or black. A lot of times she will double up on the colors, creating one solid-colored look that makes heads turn when she walks into the room.

To look like one of TV’s strongest women, you’ll also have to get a very fancy coat (or 10). Pea-coats are a must, but so are coats with big sleeves or high necks. Basically, you’ll need a fancy coat for every occasion, no matter if you are going to work or out to dinner.

Olivia’s wardrobe is definitely not casual, so if you are looking for something to lounge around in, maybe her style isn’t for you. But if you do need something fancy to wear or you tend to dress up a lot, definitely look into what she wears and you can look as iconic as she does every episode.

There are so many TV characters that rock iconic looks all the time. Whether you like a more casual style or a more formal style, you can definitely find someone on TV to shape your wardrobe after. Who is your favorite TV style icon? Let us know in the comments below!
