Top 10 Tik Toks That Defined 2021
Tik Toks have taken over the internet in the past couple of years. They have reset the culture of our society and defined how this year has been. Below I posted my top ten tik toks that I think described 2021 in the best way possible.
1. What are your Pronouns
In this hilarious video. Lewis Buchan runs around the streets asking random people what their pronouns are. Keep in mind he asks older people so they would not know what he is talking about. Many of these people hesitate and keep walking away. Almost as if they are not keen on understanding what this generation is going through.
Even one person is walking away. Lewis then proceeds to say “I think he’s in the closet.” A very generation Z joke to say in my opinion. Anyways I find this video iconic. As it represents the difference between each generation. A modern piece of art!
2. Wear What You Want
Want to be swooned by one of the prettiest people on the internet? Nick Auffman will serve you some of the best looks ever. In this video, he puts on a turtle neck-type of a sweater. It is topped with a half robe that reminds me of a prince’s cloak. At the bottom, he wears gorgeous white pants that let loose like a dress. Put it together and you get a Harry Styles style.
This video represents how far male fashion has come. In the past, boys were restricted to only wearing tuxedos. It wasn’t until these years we were able to explore more styles. Like women’s dresses. And by applying a few feminine features, the males can kiss the toxic masculinity away with their fashion. Now it is safe to say that male fashion is becoming as interesting and versatile as femme fashion.
3. Squid Game Haunted House
In this Tik Tok, someone films an intricately decorated house. There are lights everywhere, Tik Tok’s name can be seen in the bottom corner. But all of the sudden, it becomes a video game. The big doll from the Netflix hit series Squid Game appears in the window. You can move when she looks away, but when she looks back, stay still, or you are eliminated!
This is a super sick decoration and I think it represents how this TV show basically owns the world now. And since this was posted during the Halloween season, it will be perfect for scaring people during these times. I absolutely think it’s brilliant to come up with an idea like this. Kudos to the developers of this game!
4. Ragu and Butter
2021 has also been the year of sheer craziness. With happy and fun Tik Toks come the controversial ones. This list involves a person under the name of “Butter Girl.” Her channel mostly focuses on her eating everything involving butter. This might not sound harmful when reading this article but once you see the Tik Tok for yourself… you will get harmed.
She took a whole stick of butter and dipped it into a Ragu Jar. I don’t even need to say anything else because the comments did the venting for me. Any more questions? I thought so!
5. Skater Motivation
In this wonderful video, a skater tries to do a pro trick but doesn’t quite get there. Luckily, an adult woman steps in to say something. Initially, we all thought she was going to Karen out. But instead, she tells him how amazing he is! She reassures him that he will be able to master that one trick. She even proceeds to give him a high five!
This is one of the Tik Toks that gave me hope for humanity. Mostly because almost all Karen-looking ladies that were documented have been nothing but trouble. This wonderful woman has been one of the few exceptions. And I happily accept that. We need more people like here ASAP!
6. Indigenous Throat Singing
In this super insightful video, Indigenous influencer Shina Nova gives us a gorgeous presentation on throat singing. Shina and her mother together harmonize in an ancient ritual that has been around for a very long time. It is a type of singing where we sing while mostly inhaling instead of exhaling.
What makes this video incredible is that it gets exposure to the world. Millions of viewers get to learn about different Indigenous practices from different places. It gives this app a whole new purpose. Even though the majority of viewers still watch pointless dance challenges. It makes me happy that at this age, everyone can truly express themselves like never before. And we cannot say the same thing just a few years ago!
7. Boleh Beauty
In the past few years, especially way in the past, society has had a narrowed viewpoint in beauty. I have seen way too many lighter-skinned people getting most of the attention from the public. Tik Tok is no exception. In the most popular videos, you will mostly see white girls dancing, sitting down, or just looking pretty.
This video will be a refreshing reminder that people come in different shades, sizes, and personalities. I am also glad this video has blown up because it deserved it. These two people are absolutely gorgeous. Their flawless skin makes me insecure about myself, so I cannot stare at them for too long!
8. Squid Game Remix
I am sorry if I am spamming with more Squid Game content. This video is too good not to add to this list! First of all… the production quality! For such a short video, I was shocked by how high the video quality was. It truly felt like I was watching something from the movie theater. The content is also incredible too! Combining a Tik Tok dance challenge with the Squid Game theme!
Again I feel no remorse for adding another Squid Game video. This TV show rules the world now anyways. There is a good reason why everyone is making a video involving this one television series. It is that incredible!
9. Zombie Babies
This video is honestly such a mood. Two babies vibing while dead inside. This video is for all the people whole lost all their F’s to give this year!
