It’s all about confidence. When you put on that dark lipstick you bought the other day, you just have to own it. People will look at you because wearing dark lipstick can go one of two ways: either you do it right and look like you got a makeover from Rihanna’s beauty team, or you look like you forgot Halloween was like last week. The difference between those two scenarios goes back to confidence; if you own it, no one can judge you. Here are 4 tips to pull of dark lipstick this season.
Lets be honest, dark colored lipstick can spread very easily. The slightest touch and BAM, it’s ruined. So make sure to always line your lips and keep both the lipstick and liner in your purse for necessary retouches. Some of the best liners, in my opinion, are from NYX and they are also very inexpensive.
If you are going for a dark, black-ish shade, make sure to pick one with burgundy or purple undertones so it’s not too overwhelming on your face. The best shade of black I have used so far is Espresso Exposed by Maybelline. If you want to go fully black, the best one is Everlasting Liquid Lipstick by Kat Von D in Witches.
If you are going with a more cherry-dark color, apply gold eye shadow with pink undertones to your eyes. It will not only draw attention to your lips but also soften your look. I like ‘Rose Boheme’ from YSL.
Plum by far is my favorite dark lipstick color this fall. When I wear plum lipstick, I always just apply a thin winged liner and mascara, along with falsies to complete my look. My favorite plum lipstick is NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania.
Give dark lips a try this season. It’s really easy to get caught up in the same routine during the fall and winter season, because most of us are working or in school. But that should be no excuse. Step up your lip game and apply all the lipstick you want. Just don’t leave your house without confidence because that’s the number one tip to pulling off dark lipstick this fall!
