10 Tips To Get Healthy Clear Skin

Unless you have been extremely lucky, you have struggled with your skin at one point or another. It can be a huge blow to your confidence to feel like you need to cover up your skin with either make-up or clothes, simply because your skin refuses to clear. I have struggled on and off with my skin since high school, and through trial and error have found some small ways that seem to help clear up trouble spots. Here are 10 tips to get healthy clear skin.

1. Water

I know that water seems like an obvious one, but many people are simply not drinking enough of it. Take a gallon of water and see how much of it you drink in a day. If you want to help clear your skin, that jug should be at least 3 quarters of the way empty by the end of the night.

2. Dry brush

This is something I just recently tried, but it does seem to help areas besides the face… I wouldn’t use it on your face because it’s too rough. But for your body, find a dry brush online or in your stores, and once a week, brush your body in circular motions that lead towards the heart. This is supposed to increase blood flow and remove dead skin.

3. Cut sugar

I hate to say it but sugar, refined sugar, isn’t doing your skin any favors. I want to be clear that I am only talking about processed sugars, fruit gets a free pass on this tip.

4. Allergies

Maybe you don’t have any outright allergies, but your body may not like certain foods. For me it was dairy… the week I cut dairy out of my diet was the week my back became clear for the first time in years. So pay attention to when you have flare-ups and see if it connects to certain foods.

5. Sweat

If you are an active person like me, sweat is just a part of your life, but make sure you are taking measures to keep your skin from suffering. I take body wipes with me to the gym and wipe the skin areas that are most prone to breakouts. And of course shower later.

6. Overdoing it

There is a thing as being overly clean. If you are scrubbing your skin with rough exfoliates every day in the shower, you could be doing more harm than good. Make sure you are giving your skin time to heal in between scrubbing treatments.

7. Open air

I know it is tempting to cover up any blemish you have, hoping that it will eventually go away, but try not to overdo it. Your skin needs room to breathe, so take off the make-up or long sleeve shirt, and let your skin get some fresh air.

8. Lotion

Your skin needs moisture and sometimes, it reacts when it is dry, so even though it feels weird to put lotion on problem skin… just do it. Follow these tips to get healthy clear skin

9. Sun

I will preface this by reminding you to always use sun safety and to be aware of sunburns. That aside, I have noticed over time that my skin clears when it has seen the sun. I have no proof behind this, just years of experience with my skin, but it tends to do better when I have let it get a small tan.

10. Stress

Stress will destroy your skin faster than you can blink. It’s crazy the power your mood has over your body, so please try to relax… take a bubble bath, go for a run, whatever floats your boat… your skin will thank you for it.
