10 Tips For College Seniors Starting Their Final Semester Of College

Christmas break is coming to a close, which means one thing for college seniors: the final semester of college! For all of the seniors out there like me, you will definitely deny the fact that you are about to start your final semester of college. You probably never thought that this day would ever come, and now that it is here, you are wishing for more time. You probably thought that you would be feeling so much excitement to be starting your final semester of college, until it actually happens, and you realize you are feeling the exact opposite. You will probably start reminiscing on your time at college and how it was truly the best four years of your life. College was the ultimate period of personal growth and experience, and knowing that that chapter is coming to a close is devastating. Instead of feeling down about the fact that your college era is coming to an end, turn that frown upside down and follow these 10 tips to live out your best life during your final semester of college!

1. Don’t give up on school work and studying

As a senior in college, it is so easy to want to slack off and take the easy way out of your classes. You will want to spend more time with your friends, and less time doing homework or studying. You should definitely dedicate time to doing fun things with your friends, and checking off all of the final items off of your college bucket list, but don’t forget about school too! Just because it is your last semester does not mean that you are guaranteed to graduate. You still have to go to class, complete your work, study, and put in the time. Just find a balance between work and play, and you are guaranteed to live out the best semester!

2. Enroll in a fun class

It is your final semester of college, which means it is your final opportunity to enroll in a full class or elective course. At this point in the semester, you have most likely completed all of the required courses needed to graduate, and you probably have room in your schedule for an extra class or two. Instead of taking a ‘boring’ class, enroll in something fun! Enroll in a class that you have always wanted to take, something that really interests and excites you. If you live by the beach, take a surfing class! It would be even more fun if you get some friends to take the class with you too. Make the most of it!

3. Talk to someone new around campus

You should make it your weekly goal to meet someone new in your classes. It doesn’t matter how you meet them, or even where you meet them, all that matters is that you are stepping out of your comfort zone and befriending someone new. Now is your chance to talk to that cute guy, or that girl you think is super cool and always wanted to be friends with. If it doesn’t go according to plan, don’t sweat it. You won’t see them again anyways!

4. Plan an unforgettable Spring Break with friends

Splurge on your last spring break ever because let’s face it, you will never get the opportunity to do it again! College is all about having a crazy, unforgettable Spring Break vacation with your friends, so make sure that your final Spring Break adventure is something you will never forget. Get your Spring Breakin’ squad together and ready for a week full of fun!

5. Attend as many on-campus events as you can

This is your final opportunity to attend as many on-campus events as you possibly can, so take advantage of it! Whether it is a sporting event, a philanthropy, a guest speaker, or anything in between, go! If you are afraid of going alone, get a friend or your roommate to go with you. Don’t ever let an event pass by and wish you were there!

6. Adventure to a new town or city nearby

Spend the weekends out adventuring in a new town or city near your university. Get your friends together, pack up a small bag, and head out for a fun weekend getaway! Whether you make a day trip, or a full weekend trip, you are bound to have a great time regardless. If there is a place, restaurant, or event that you have always said you wanted to go to but never went, now is the time!

7. Check items off your college bucket list

Every college student has a college bucket list that is probably not completed by his/her final semester. Instead of leaving your bucket list incomplete, make sure to check everything off the list! Do you want to go sky diving? Go to a dive bar? Go to a rave with friends? Whatever it may be, do it! Now is the time!

8. Network with current internship employers, professors, advisers, etc.

Dedicate some time to focus on networking with your current internship employer, friends, professors and advisers on campus. You never know which connection that you make will help you land your first job out of college, so make sure to solidify those relationships while you can. Go to networking events, grab coffee with your boss, and ask for help. Don’t ever feel embarrassed to do so. These people want to help you and watch you succeed, so take advantage of it!

9. Don’t stress about not having a job or plan after college

It is so easy to get in full panic mode if you do not have a job or plan as soon as you graduate. Let’s face it, some of your peers will get job offers right away, while others will struggle to find a job or plan after college, but that is okay! Whether you get a job right as you graduate, spend some time traveling, or take time for yourself to figure out what is next, do it! It is not the end of the world if you don’t have a job or plan. Don’t be too hard on yourself. It will all workout!

10. Live in the moment

The most important piece of advice that all college students should follow is to live in the moment! Don’t get caught up in all of the drama. Instead, just focus on every moment. Spend time with friends, visit your family when you can, go to class, and attend events when your schedule allows. If your friends call you and ask you to go on an adventure, do it! This is your final time to live that young, wild and free live, so live it to the fullest!

Cheers to an unforgettable semester! Are you one of the college seniors out there? Tell us about your experience in the comments!
