Campus Life

The Typical Day Of A Student At FIT

Many people wonder what ordinary days are like at different colleges. However, a lot of people would say that no day is ever ordinary at FIT. FIT is quite a unique school that far exceeds students’ expectations everyday. Between all of the club meetings, club activities, comedy shows, bake sales, job offerings and so forth, students can never get bored at this school. The amount of opportunities and possibilities the school offers are limitless! Here’s what makes up a typical day for a student at FIT:

1. Hot Spots Near The FIT Campus

Having places to eat and shop at is important for any students that go away to school. When a student is living in a dorm in the city, it becomes even easier to do these things. After a stressful day at FIT, it is always satisfying to know that students can reward themselves by grabbing a delicious bite to eat at Chipotle or by going shopping at popular stores like H&M, Forever 21, Macy’s, Zara, Sephora and so forth. This isn’t typical for students that don’t live on a campus in the city, but instead live on a bigger campus where everything is isolated. It is also exciting when they can easily go to a concert, a Knicks game, or a New York Rangers game at Madison Square Garden.

2. A+ Fashion Game

There are always some students that dress nicely at different colleges. However, at FIT the fashion game is always on point. Several people that go to FIT rock their own unique style that stands out. Students are always wearing the latest trends and know how to impress onlookers walking down the streets.  FIT may be a fashion school, but students still know how to go above and beyond to dress with confidence and dignity.

3. Endless Activities for a Student at FIT

It is always good for students to get involved at any college they attend. However, the opportunities that FIT offers go above and beyond. From the various clubs, events and job offerings that go on at this school, students will always get an opportunity to get involved and connect with their classmates.

The popular clubs that take place at this school are Merchandising Society, Models and Stylists Association, Runway27, Blush Magazine and so on.  Students also have an opportunity to work at the school Style Shop if they’re in the Merchandising Society club. The Style Shop is an extraordinary store that sells vintage, product development, designer and industry items. There are also different events that take place at FIT that include comedy shows, movie nights, fashion shows, flea markets, student workshops and many more!

FIT has employees from different stores come to the school to interview students that want to gain working experience. Stores such as Coach, Skechers, Victoria’s Secret, Dylan’s Candy Bar and Topshop have come to the school so far this year, and it only keeps getting better!

4. The busiest lunch break takes place at 2 P.M.

You’ll notice that at 2 p.m. is when everyone is eating lunch. It’s always the busiest hour to go to the dining hall and grab a bite to eat. The options include a deli station, a global station, a home station, salad bar, sushi, pizza, and the grill. Be prepared for the longest line to be at the deli station or the grill. The paninis make you go “mmm” and the chicken quesadillas are delicious!

5. Starbucks is the place for students to be.

Students that are rushing to class with a cup of coffee are the wonderful customers of Starbucks! Is there really a place that doesn’t have Starbucks? Luckily, FIT has a Starbucks in the dining hall where students can grab an iced caramel macchiato or a blueberry muffin before heading to class. What’s better than Starbucks? Nothing!

6. Students never stop doing homework or studying.

Students are always doing work everywhere you go at FIT. The library is always filled with studious students wanting to succeed. The student lounges always have people concentrating hard on studying and sketching designs for their next project. FIT is a creative school filled with creative students!

The typical day of a student that goes to Fashion Institute of Technology is quite different than what several other colleges experience. Sure, students still eat at the dining hall, go to the school gym, go to class everyday, and spend long hours in the library. But FIT is still an extraordinary school that offers many opportunities that are infinite and make it the school that it is known for!
