10 Stay At Home Office Style Ideas

If your office style is in need of a boost, these necessities will do the trick. Whether you need a more functional work space, or are looking to redecorate, we have you covered. Use these items to make working from home as enjoyable as possible!

1. Chairs

If you work from home, then you know your desk chair is one of your best friends. Just like a human friend, your chair needs to be supportive, laid back and in your life for a reason. When purchasing a desk chair, look for one that will support your body all day long. Features like arms or flexible backs will make sitting in the chair (6-8 hours) more bearable. If the traditional desk chair isn’t your cup of tea, look at alternative office styles chairs like a balance ball chair or ottoman style chair!

2. Desks

If you have always worked from home or are new to this, a good desk is key to getting your work done. With so many different styles, there is something out there for everyone. Executive, L-shaped and U-shaped designs would be considered traditional. Glass, corner or floating designs are considered contemporary. When purchasing a new desk keep in mind the amount of space allotted for it. Don’t buy something huge if you don’t have the room for it. Or if working from home is just temporary, you might consider a desk that can be repurposed for something else.

3. Keyboards

Do your hands ever feel tired after typing on the keyboard all day? If the answer is yes, then switching to a different keyboard might be your answer. There are so many different types of keyboards available. There are wireless keyboards, left handed keyboards (for the lefties in your life) or even projection keyboards. Depending on if you use a laptop, tablet or desktop computer, the style of keyboard can vary. Go ahead and see if changing your keyboard can make typing easier.

4. Lamps

Change up your at home office styles with something as simple as a lamp. Not only do they provide light so you can see better, some even double in functionality. Floor lamps are great if you have a smaller desk and need to utilize space. They can also be used for storage, if they have shelves built in. Purchase a gold desk lamp to make your desk feel a little classier. If you need a USB charging port, some lamps even have that additional feature. No matter which style you choose, a lamp will upgrade your office area.

5. Bulletin Boards

Remember when you were in school and the teacher would have a bulletin board in the classroom? They contained such items as a calendar, upcoming events/assignments and the schedule for the day. You can incorporate a bulletin board into your at home office styles as well. Not only are they very helpful in staying organized, they can be super cute as well! Keep important dates on your calendar or use a post it note to remind yourself to do something important. Customize the boards in a way that works best for you!

6. Organizers

Some of you might have a certain spot for everything on your desk. Others can barely see their desk through all the stuff on it (it’s called organized chaos), but know exactly where everything is. Either way, a desk organizer is the solution to keeping your desk in workable order. There are many different types, ranging from simple to complicated. Fun office styles or colors help make working at your desk that much easier. They also help you feel like you have your life in order, even when you don’t. Sometimes you have to fake it to you make it!

7.  File Cabinets:

Storage is key to not only staying organized, but also knowing all your files are secure. A great way to store your files is in a file cabinet. Two drawer cabinets are small enough to fit under a desk. If you don’t have a desk, customize another piece of furniture like a chest and turn it into a DIY cabinet. Use contact paper or paint to make it more personable and to make it fit with your office styles decor. Know your documents are secure while still looking fabulous.

8. Plants

Bring the green (not that kind!), into your home office. A little greenery can go a long way to making your office feel lighter and brighter. Start with a small plant that can easily fit on your desk to give it some color. If a plant takes up to much space on your desk, remember its can always be hung from the wall too! If you don’t have a green thumb and still want some greenery, buy an artificial plant! They can look so realistic and no one will know the difference.

9. Motivational Decor

Some days, it is harder to work from home than others. Distractions come from many sources, including yourself. When you need the extra push, add some motivational items into your office style. A framed photo on the wall, a coffee mug or knick knacks can all do the trick. Take it to the next level with your favorite quote on the wall. Find a certain them or mix it up with an eclectic style. A stimulating and warm atmosphere can make working from home a breeze.

10. Headphones

While this technically isn’t an office styles item, you can work in style with a pair of noise canceling headphones. Working from home can be chaotic at times. With deadlines, online meetings and work reviews, sometimes you need “quiet” to get things done. A pair of headphones can help cancel out the unwanted noise, making it easier to work. If the traditional headphones feel too bulky or aren’t your style, switch them out for earbuds. Many are wireless so you don’t have to worry about getting tangled in the cord!
