10 Spicy Dishes To Fire Up Your Day

Sometimes, you just crave spicy dishes. That craving can actually be a good thing, since spicy foods can speed up your metabolism, or it could hurt you if you are prone to heartburn. Well, either pop a heartburn pill or ready your belly, because these spicy dishes are simply too good to resist.

1. Spicy Corn Dip

This spicy dish is easy to make and perfect for any occasion. The creaminess of mayonnaise and sour cream help balance the three jalapeno peppers and can of green chilis, though, as you can imagine, they still pack a punch. Corn, green onions, and cheddar cheese complete this dip, filling it with additional flavors.

To make this dish, just combine sour cream, mayonnaise, corn, green onions, seeded and chopped jalapeno peppers, diced green chilis, and cheddar cheese in a bowl. Your dip is ready! Serve warm or cold; it will taste great either way.

2. Spicy Biryani

This recipe originates in India, and includes green chilis along with garam masala, a mixture of Indian spices like cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. Thus, the term “spicy” refers to both the slightly hot flavor from the chilis and the Indian spice mixture in this dish. These two flavors create a rice and vegetable mix that goes well with just about anything.

Get your rice cooker ready, because it is the star of this recipe. Fry diced onions and green chilis in oil in your rice cooker, then add vegetables, rice, water, salt and garam masala. Once the rice is cooked, the dish is done and ready to be eaten. Though the recipe centers around a rice cooker, you should be able to make it on the stove top as well.

3. Spicy Sliders

This recipe is so interesting because it adds lentils to the burger patties. The spicy flavor comes from Dijon mustard, chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, and Monterey jack cheese all either in or on these mini burgers. These paired with garlic, pepper, and onion, will make your mouth impatiently drool while waiting for these spicy dishes to cook.

Begin by simmering the lentils for about a half hour or until they are tender. Then, puree them and allow to cool. Meanwhile, mix together mustard, garlic, pepper, onion, and chipotle pepper in a bowl. Combine with lentils and beef, form into small patties, and bake on a baking sheet. After cooked, top with cheese and bake just until cheese melts. Remove from oven, place on buns or bread, and top with arugula to complete.

8. Spicy Korean Chicken

This spicy tangy scrumptious dish also comes with a sweet salsa recipe to help balance the spicy. For this tasty spicy dish, you make both spicy tomato sauce and spicy meatballs, doubling the spice and the flavor. The sauce is a combination of garlic, paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, and chopped tomatoes. The meatballs are a mix of beef, onion powder, paprika, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. Both have some shared ingredients, helping them pair together, but each has a special extra something in the flavor bank to make this dish phenomenally good.

To make the tomato sauce, saute the garlic in oil, then add salt, paprika, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Stir a few seconds, then add the tomatoes, covering and simmering for about ten minutes. While the sauce simmers, combine the beef, onion powder, salt, paprika, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper, forming meat balls from this combination. Add these to the tomato sauce, cover, and simmer for a half hour. Enjoy in sandwiches, over pasta, or alone.
