It’s hard not to fall head over heels for Los Angeles, evident by the countless number of songs written about this amazing city. If you were not already crazy enough about L.A., here are 10 songs that are sure to make you wish you were walking the streets of the City of Angels.
“Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band”
This song, written by Bernie Taupin for Elton John, is about the free spirited women he met in Los Angeles and the overall ethereal feelings that come with the city. When listening to this classic, be ready to long for driving down Hollywood Boulevard with the windows rolled down and the music turned up loud.
“I never came to the beach or stood by the ocean / I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand / But you brought me here, and I’m happy that you did”
There’s nothing like falling in love in Los Angeles, more specifically in dreamy Malibu. Miley has it right, this song will make you dream of warm sand between your toes with ocean winds flowing through your hair at one of L.A.’s beautiful beaches.
“I wanna live a life like that / I wanna be just like a king / Take my picture by the pool / ‘Cause I’m the next big thing”
This one’s all about the struggle of making it big, and the hopeless feelings that can arise out of it. This 2000’s hit is sure to have you picturing Hollywood stars and can be incredibly relatable if you’ve ever found yourself in search of your big break.

With warm weather and always sunny skies, it’s clear to see how lead singer Anthony Kiedis found solace in his struggles through the city around him. There’s a great sense of nostalgic comfort when listening to this song that is sure to send you packing your bags to be able to call Los Angeles your home.
“Well I just got into town about an hour ago / Took a look around, see which way the wind blow / Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows / Are you a lucky little lady in the City of Lights”
This nearly eight minute song is a Los Angeles staple, written about. . . you guessed it, the women of L.A.The chorus of this song will have you wishing you were a “lost angel,” dancing under the bright city lights of Los Angeles.

If this song doesn’t capture the essence of hopefuls in Hollywood, I don’t know what does. Featured in the opening sequence in La La Land, this homage to the City of Angels reminds us that picking yourself up and trying again is what it’s all about.
