12 Signs You Are Absolutely From Woodstock, IL

If you grew up in Woodstock, IL you’ll relate to these 12 things. It’s a unique place to live, you just know that in Woodstock.

When someone asks you where you’re from, you typically reply by asking:

“Well, have you seen the movie Groundhog’s Day?”

…and if they haven’t, you just say you’re from Chicago.

Because they’ve never heard of Woodstock or they assume you’re talking about the festival in New York.

Speaking of, you take Groundhog’s Day more seriously than you probably should.

(Mostly because it’s our most well-known claim to fame.)

If you have company from out of town, you take them to The Square, because it’s guaranteed to charm the pants off of them.

You’re also willing to stand in the freezing Northern Illinois winter for an hour or two just to see The Square light up for the first time of the year.

(Even though it will be lit for the following 3 months …)

You’ve spent many summer days, or days in general, enjoying all that Emricson Park has to offer.

You might also be from Woodstock if you take homecoming and cross-town games as seriously as the Super Bowl.

And after that game, you know you can count on seeing at least half of the student body, from both schools, at McDonald’s.

You’ve gotten pizza from Napoli’s at least once.

You know exactly where the sinkholes, I mean, potholes, are next to Aldi.

Let’s face it, they’re never going to get filled. If you’ve made the rookie mistake of hitting one, it felt like you totaled your car. Good ole Woodstock, IL.

No one (yes, including you) ever seems to know whose turn it is at the five-way stop near the tunnel.

But at the end of the day, you know that no matter where you go.

Nothing can replace the feeling of being back home in Woody.
