Picking a college is one of the most stressful decisions you will make in your lifetime. However, picking the University of Maine was an easy choice once I had toured the campus. While there are so many reasons why I chose to go to the University of Maine, here are some of the most important ones!
The atmosphere itself set UMO apart from the other schools I was looking into. Just driving onto the campus I could feel the warmth everyone had and the sense of unity that all college students should experience.
As silly as this may seem for a determining factor, the variety of food is important. If you do not like the food at the college campus a few things could happen. You could just not eat which will then lead to a lack of focus and decrease in academics, or you will spend more money on food so you are eating what you like. There are three different dining halls each with their own pros and cons and I highly suggest going to York!
While the college has a country feel to it, it is only about 20 minutes from Bangor! Which means its only a short ride to the Bangor mall which has a bunch of awesome stores like Rue 21, Zumiez and Victorias Secret!
The forth thing that set it higher than other colleges is how easy transpiration is. There is a campus shuttle that runs all over campus and you can ride the community connector for free if you show them your MaineCard!
There is movie nights quite frequently where they show movies that are brand new. There are also activists held in each dorm hall every Friday so it’s super easy to meet new people and feel like you are not alone. And if you do feel like you are alone there are so many different clubs to join that there is something for everyone!
