Deciding what to do after high school can be a stressful decision for everyone. With the thousands of colleges, gap year opportunities, and job possibilities overwhelming graduates it can be hard to narrow down. But, once you find the right place for you all the stress will be worth it. For me, the University of Kentucky is my place, and here are five reasons why:
Find another school more passionate about their basketball team. I dare ya. Wildcat fans go crazy for their boys which creates an infectious excitement that will make you bleed blue for life. (Did I mention student tickets are just $5???)
While touring various universities I noticed that a lots of schools were behind the times. Musty dorms, outdated buildings, and dingy classrooms seemed to be the common theme, so when I saw all the innovative plans UK had I was pleasantly surprised. Then I saw that they were actually putting these plans in action. Between the new dorms (opened in 2104) to the new rec center (set to open during the 2017-2018 school year) UK continually pushes to improve.
Nothing is worse than a dirty community bathroom, and thankfully with UK’s new dorms they are a thing of the past. The six new dorm layouts allow you plenty of privacy while still letting you share a room with your bestie!
UK has around 30,000 students attending, and this can seem intimidating to any small town girl. However, it never seems that huge due to UK’s welcoming community. With a big campus comes the opportunity to meet tons of new people while the separation between north, south, and central campus provides the small town feel, while having the perks of being outside of a small town.
UK works to pair outstanding academic opportunities with outstanding social opportunities. This allows students to work hard while also enjoying their time in university.
