There’s no better way to experience Blacksburg than in the fall! Between back to school and chilly weather, there’s so many reasons to get excited everyone’s favorite season! Summer’s officially over, and in case you weren’t already sold on putting away your swimsuit and pulling out your scarves, here’s 10 reasons to love fall at Virginia Tech!
We all know Virginia Tech is just a short drive away from several breathtaking hiking trails. Dragon’s Tooth, MacAfee’s Knob, and the Cascades are some of the more popular ones, and all are fantastic hikes to take in the cooler months.
There’s no better way to unwind from a hectic week with some fall ball!
Enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a cozy vibe! Places like Bollo’s, Idego, and Mill Mountain are all within walking distance from campus and perfect places to hold your Sunday afternoon study sessions.
The beginning of a new semester is the perfect opportunity to get involved with clubs you find interesting! With Gobblerfest past, clubs are welcoming new members and launching into their activities for the semester!
Scarves, boots, sweaters. Need I say more?
Virginia Tech’s campus was basically made for the fall. Nothing compliments Hokie stone better than maroon and orange leaves. Somehow, this already beautiful campus is just amplified come October! I recommend taking a detour through the Ag Quad or stopping by Hahn Horticulture Garden to check out the scenery (especially for those Instagram-worthy fall pics).
Thanks to its recent reboot, homecoming is one of the best traditions during fall at Virginia Tech. This week starts with a campfire by the Duck Pond and ends with a homecoming Game against East Carolina. Homecoming week is packed with events and concerts! BSA is hosting a comedy show, Hunter Hayes is coming, and of course voting for Homecoming King and Queen! Homecoming week allows us to do what Virginia Tech does best, mixing fun with our motto of Ut Prosim, using this as an opportunity to focus on charities that mean the most to our students!
The most wonderful time of the year! There’s plenty of ways to get into the spirit even before Halloweekend hits! Check out Rocky Horror Picture Show performed in McBryde 100 or go pick out pumpkins at Sinkland Farms!
As a fall staple, there’s plenty of places to go apple picking nearby campus! Doe Creek Farm is a great option, just half an hour away! Gather a group of friends or plan a trip with a club!
With the joy of returning to campus, the excitement of new students, and the beautiful weather, Virginia Tech comes alive in the fall! It’s truly an excellent time to experience life as a Hokie and participate in some of our biggest traditions!
