Positive Ways To Start Your Morning

The grind of the everyday school and job life has settled down into a blur of the week, a spark of excitement as it hits the end of the workday Friday, and then just in a snap of light you’re back jolting out of bed Monday morning, ready for another long week. Be honest, has anyone else been having such a difficult time just even getting out of bed lately? Like you wish so much that you could stay curled up in the covers all day, hiding from the real-world responsibilities?  And when you do finally drag yourself out of bed, it’s just a slow, sluggish morning where nothing seems to go right? If this sums you up, then trust us, we have been feeling the exact same way. We can all join together and beat this morning gloom that forms a consistent rain cloud over each of us and incorporate some of these ways to have a positive start to your morning!

Morning R&R

Jumping out of bed as soon as you decided you’ve hit snooze one too many enough times, and giving  yourself just the right amount of time to get ready and get out the door, might not be the best way to start your morning. It may leave you feeling anxious and stressed, which is the exact opposite of how you should be feeling in the early hours of the day. One ideal way to enjoy a positive start to your morning, is what we like to call Morning R&R, or rest and relaxation. Waking up just a tad bit earlier to enjoy the piece and calm before your juggle of adult responsibilities insist to be taken care of is exceptionally worth it. We all need that time to sit on the porch and sip coffee, or something the equivalent of that. Maybe getting through a round in your video game, and eating your cereal is your preference.  Anyway, what we’re trying to say is that we need those crucial thirty minutes or so of time to yourself to just absorb this relaxed feeling. A slow morning that shapes into being ready for work is one of the best ways to start your morning. Leaving you feeling calm, motivated, and confident to start your day!

Get A Mini Workout In

Waking up to go running, or working out in the gym does not sound like you’re having a good time. But, this is just one you”ll have to get used to if you want to get shaped into an early bird. No matter the way you you like to get your steps in, incorporating a small exercise routine will benefit you greatly.  Whether it’s running, swimming, bicycling, or lifting weights, trying something new in your morning routine, and maybe changing it up each day is a perfect way to switch up the same-old routine you’re stuck in and have more positive mornings and nights! Meditation is also another good option. A mental practice bringing you into a relaxed state is just as great as a physical exercise. Both will leave you feeling warm and ready for the day!

Put Effort Into Your Breakfast

Putting more effort in your breakfast helps extremely when it comes to having enough energy for the day. Calories = Energy, and we need plenty with the load that we’re all carrying. A full, well-rounded breakfast will give you sufficient energy for the day. Remember breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A bowl of cereal, yogurt and fruits with a glass of orange juice is a great meal. A smoothie with a protein bar is also good. A cup of coffee and a doughnut. Coffee with some pancakes. Eat something even if it’s a little. We can’t run on low fuel.

Mindful Journaling

An excellent way to start a positive morning is through journaling. Journaling is the perfect mind, mental practice to help you have a calm, relaxed, better start to your morning! Journaling both before you hit the hay, and when you wake up in the morning is one way to ensure  peaceful sleep. By jotting down the thoughts you have at night, when you’re feeling like there’s nothing you can do to get your mind to stop running for the night, or even when you’re surprisingly stress-free before bed, it’s always a great idea to bring conscious those negative feelings of the day, write them down, and get rid of it. A good night’s rest is one of the best measures to ensure a good day when you wake up.

Set Aside Your Phone

Another great way to have a positive start to your morning is by not checking your phone as soon as you open your eyes. We’ve all gotten used to have our phones in reaching distance, always at the ready when you have a second of down time. Even before going to sleep, a healthier way to get a good night’s rest is by putting that phone away well before getting some shut eye. Our phones keep us up at night, and if you sleep with the ringer on, every notification will lull you out of sleep and you’ll probably end up checking who’s messaging you throughout the night. By putting your phone on silent or do not disturb, and putting it out of arm’s reach, will help us all have a better relationship with our phones, lessening the attachment we have with them. When you’re up for the day, what we don’t want to do is start your day with checking your phone. Doom scrolling through the news, mindlessly scrolling on social media, and checking your email responses will only have you feeling prematurely stressed for the day. Leave the work for when you actually clock in, or get to class, and enjoy the morning to the best of your ability by focusing on creating a calm morning routine that will have an all round positive effect on you.
