10 Playlists Everyone Should Make For Literally Any Mood

Every mood needs a playlist. Whether you’re happy, sad, studying or running, you should always have a playlist to accompany you. Use these 10 playlist ideas to refresh your Spotify and never be without the songs you need.

1. Rise and Shine

The perfect morning playlist is definitely a good reason to get out of bed in the morning. Listen to some upbeat, fast tempo songs to wake you up for the day and spark some energy into your slow morning daze.

Song Suggestions: You Make My Dreams – Daryl Hall & John Oates, Here Comes The Sun – The Beatles, Walking On Broken Glass – Annie Lennox, Accidentally In Love – Counting Crows

2. PM

Make an evening playlist to wind down to at the end of a busy day. Choose some slower, relaxing songs to listen to whilst you walk home or make dinner – a playlist to fade out the chaos of the day and ease you into the stillness of the evening.

Song Suggestions: We Don’t Eat – James Vincent McMorrow, Mexico – James Taylor, Come Away With Me – Norah Jones, Cover Your Tracks – A Boy And His Kite

3. Old But Gold

A throwback playlist for a bit of nostalgic listening is a Spotify essential. Whether it’s the eighties, nineties or noughties, fill this playlist with old classics you thought you’d forgotten about.

Song Suggestions: Unwritten – Natasha Bedingfield, Dancing in the Moonlight – Toploader, Billie Jean – Michael Jackson, Mr Brightside – The Killers, Landslide – Dixie Chicks, Africa – Toto

4. Workout

A good workout goes hand in hand with a good playlist. Cardio seems a bit less daunting when you’re accompanied with good music. Blast your workout playlist for a bit of motivation when you just can’t find that energy.

Song Suggestions: We Didn’t Start The Fire – Billy Joel, Juice – Lizzo, Nutbush City Limits – Ike & Tina Turner, Something ‘Bout The Music – Tobtok, White Lies – M-22

5. Study

Studying in complete silence can sometimes be more distracting than being surrounded by noise. Find that perfect medium with a study playlist to help you stay focused. Try classical music and movie soundtracks that will help you hold your concentration for longer.

Song Suggestions: On The Nature of Daylight – Max Richter, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close – Alexandre Desplat, Romantic Flight – John Powell, Maestro – Hans Zimmer, Harry in Winter – Patrick Doyle

6. Top 15

Your top 15 playlist will take a bit more time and thought to construct. Add the songs you would choose if you could only ever listen to 15 songs for the rest of your life.

Some From My Top 15: Gypsy – Fleetwood Mac, Everglow – Coldplay, The Only Living Boy in New York – Simon and Garfunkel, Piano Man – Billy Joel, Turn Me On – Norah Jones

7. Sad Songs

For when you want to wallow in your saddest of moods, everyone needs a playlist of sad songs. Try soundtracks from sad movies or poignant lyrics that you can really listen to; play it when you just don’t want to do anything else.
