8 Places to Work While the City is on Shut Down

Just because the city is shut down doesn’t stop some businesses from operating. Businesses are actively hiring to keep up with the supply and demands from the consumer since many are now working from home and discouraged from going out.

1. Amazon

With the city being shut down has brought more business to the online marketplace of Amazon than how it has affected other businesses. They are receiving hundreds of orders daily and are looking for workers to help fulfill them. They need help in the warehouse and drivers for deliveries. Some positions they are hiring for do not require any experience and can start as soon as a week. Amazon is looking to hire 100,000 workers because of the large increase in customer demand during this outbreak.

2. CVS

CVS is looking to hire 50,000 workers during this shutdown, you can claim one of these positions as yours. There are several positions that CVS is looking to fill from pharmacists, retail associates, call-center representatives, store managers, and pharmacy technicians. You can work in a temporary position, a part-time position, or even a full-time position. It is easy to apply directly from their website and they will respond quickly. Employees from CVS say that they are surrounded by positive and energetic attitudes from their coworkers and many of the customers. To be successful at CVS you must be a hard worker. The company takes its tasks and business very seriously and will do what they can to provide great experiences to their community.

3. Dollar General

This company helps the community by providing essentials like food, medications, clothing, and home supplies. Many have heard about the change in their operating hours to encourage seniors to shop. Employees of Dollar General should be proud to work for such a company. Dollar General not only takes care of seniors but also for their current workers. They provide many paid benefits and assistance during this time. They are looking to hire 50,000 workers by the end of April, one of these positions can be yours. For many of the positions they are looking to hire, they state that experienced is not required. With the city being shut down it is bringing more work to the 15,000 stores and 15 distribution centers.

4. Walmart and Sam’s Club

The company continues to support its employees and community during this unforeseen epidemic. Many of the positions being offered come with same-day interviews. They are rapidly hiring because they are looking to hire 150,000 employees now through the end of May, though most positions are temporary. Experience for most positions is not required although it is preferred. They are offering careers than a job. You can apply online or in-person at the store. Many of the offered positions are temporary many can transition to permanent positions. A benefit to the employees is that for the second time Walmart has reduced their store hours because of the spread of the Coronavirus.

5. Target

Target is looking to fill 9,000 positions during this Coronavirus pandemic. They are looking for workers to fill positions in their retail and distribution stores. Just like Dollar General, Target has also placed time aside for seniors to shop before the general public. Target takes care of their employees, they have created new paid leave programs, bonus payouts, and even increased wages for many employees. They are one of the few stores that remained open because they were seen as an “essential” store.

6. U.S. Postal Service

During these pressing times, the U.S. Postal Service is still open and is actively looking to hire employees. Every day the U.S. Postal Service posts on their website over 1,000 open positions. The U.S. Postal Service is looking for mail processors, mail carriers, customer service, and even supervisor postmasters. These positions are not only for your state but for all over America. So, if you are looking to move to another state, there may be an open position for you to fill. Many of the open positions don’t require experience. What I like most about this employment is that employees receive full federal benefits and the starting hourly pay is $20.

7. Papa John’s Pizza

People still need to eat while the city is shut down. You can apply online from their website or send them a text to inform them of your interest in working there. Papa John’s Pizza is looking to hire 20,000 workers. They offer many positions delivery drivers, team members, supervisors, and managers. They are looking for those able to work part- and full-time positions. Most of the restaurants say that those that apply can possibly be interviewed and even start the same day. That should show how bad they really need workers to pick up on the increased labor. Working will be a nice way to get paid and have a distraction of the reality of what is going on in the world.

8. 7 Eleven

During this outbreak, 7 Eleven is looking to hire about 20,000 workers to join their team, full and part-time positions. They need additional help to ensure that the stores stay clean and well-stocked. So that their customers continue to have access to goods during this critical time. They are looking to hire sale associates, store operators, and even experienced gas station employees. There are several websites to apply online. You must be physically able to bend, reach, and stand for several hours to be a qualified candidate. 7 Eleven is a convenience store, and it is open at all hours of the day. So, if you are a night owl this may be a job you may want to apply for while we are in this shutdown. If you are a morning bird, 7 Eleven is also open and has available positions for you.

If you are needed to find work during this uncertain time, several businesses are looking to hire. Don’t let this shut down prevent you from making money. Comment below on some other companies looking to hire during this time.
