5 Money Saving Apps That Will Ensure More Money In Your Pocket

Saving money is always a top priority, but it’s even more important when you’re a broke college student. But it isn’t always the easiest task when buying things like textbooks and even groceries make you drop serious cash. However, by downloading these five apps you are bound to start managing your finances and saving your money with little effort! And surprisingly, some of these apps even make saving money fun with different challenges and rewards.

1. Honey

Honey is perfect for all the online shopping addicts like myself. It’s a web extension for your web browser on your computer with a mobile app that is launching soon! This application will automatically find the best discount or promo codes to apply to your order when you are checking out. And it is insanely easy to use as all you have to do is hit the button right before completing your purchase! Honey is a win-win because it saves you money while also saving time that you would’ve spent searching for coupons.

2. You Need A Budget

Budgeting is one of the most important aspects of saving money, so you need to download the You Need A Budget (YNAB) app right now. With this app you have no more excuses! It gives you control of your money, allows you to set goals for yourself and it helps you reach them. The YNAB website states that on average, users save $600 within their first two months of using the app and more than $6,000 in their first year. One of the best things about this app is that it enables your budget to go wherever you are since it is always on your phone, meaning you will never be without a reminder to be saving and budgeting appropriately.

3. Grocery IQ

It seems like groceries just keep getting more and more expensive every time I go to the store, so this app is a lifesaver. Grocery IQ has a huge database that allows you to search for the items on your grocery list and it will tell you which store near you is offering the best price. The app also has a number of other features, such as providing additional coupons that can be applied to your purchase, indicating which aisle your product can be found in and allowing you to compile “favorite” lists within the app.

4. Groupon

There a number of apps out there offering mobile coupons, but if you were to just download one I would suggest Groupon because this app offers such diverse deals. It helps you save up to 70% on things ranging from restaurants to vacations to massages. The app also gives you the ability to search for the deals closest to you with immediate access to the coupon as well. On Groupon you can share deals and promo codes with friends and family through the app!

5. GasBuddy

There is nothing more frustrating than spending an arm and a leg to fill up your tank and then driving just a few miles down the road to see that the next gas station is 20 cents cheaper. By downloading GasBuddy, you will never run into this problem again! With this app, you can compare the prices of the gas stations near you allowing you to pick the cheapest one. GasBuddy is extra fun because you earn points each time you use it allowing you to be entered into a weekly raffle for a gas gift card!
