How To Get The No Makeup, Makeup Look With Just Five Items

Love makeup but hate the idea of looking too fake or even a little bit too orange? The No-Makeup, Makeup look is a perfect makeup look that has been trending lately even amongst models and celebrities. With all the different beauty products out there it can be a little overwhelming to figure out what to purchase. With just these five items you can build your confidence in the world of makeup while using key products to highlight your best features. You don’t have to be a beauty blogger or a makeup artist to start experimenting with makeup at home. The no makeup, makeup look is a great starting point to slowly help you develop technique, skill, and overall interest in the art of makeup. What better canvas to begin than on your own face right at home.

Moisturizer

When building something from the ground up you need to have a great base. The same when it comes to makeup, your skincare should be your top priority. A good moisturizer is essential to ensure your face is getting all the care it needs and will make a great foundation to lay your makeup on. Try drugstore brands like, L’Oreal or Neutrogena that have a range of moisturizers to fit your particular needs.

Whatever moisturizer you choose make sure it packs a lot of moisture, hydration is essential. When browsing through products look for items that list water as one of the first ingredients on the label. Any product applied to your face is being absorbed into your skin, the more natural the ingredients the better for your face in the long run. Also, another great tip is often moisturizers have built-in sunscreen, choose a moisturizer that contains sunscreen of at least SPF 30. Even in the winter, you should wear sunscreen. UVB rays are weaker in the winter so you don’t get sunburned so easily but UVA rays that cause wrinkles and damage are strong all year round!

Primer

Just like the moisturizer, you have to continue building a great base for your makeup application. After cleansing and moisturizing your face, a primer should follow. It helps prep the skin for foundation and concealer. A good primer creates an extra layer of protection between your skin and makeup. It’s predominately used to help makeup last longer throughout the day. It even smooths the skin’s surface and evens out skin tone.

The Smash box line is easily 2019’s favorite primer. The Smash box photo finish foundation primer light is a super lightweight face primer that smoothes skin and creates a soft-focus finish for flawless makeup application. This water-based primer works for all skin tones while being cruelty-free, free of fragrance, and vegan. Perfect for those with skin sensitivity. You’ll be sure to add this to your makeup bag.

Foundation

A good foundation is essential to any makeup haul. Foundation will make or break or your look. That’s why its important you not only have a good quality foundation but one that matches your complexion. Trust me on this ladies, orange skin is never in! Sephora even offers free consultation anytime you walk in the store. Associates will be more than happy to assist you with picking out the best shade and recommending foundations that are best suited to your skin type. For example, if your t-zone area, the area that makes up the forehead, nose, and chin, is often oily a good type of foundation would be matte one in either stick or cream.

Ri Ri has outdone herself by offering an unprecedented offering of shades and colors for all skin types, and assurance for flawlessly looking skin.

Concealer

A concealer or color corrector is a type of cosmetic that is used to conceal dark circles, large pores, and other blemishes on the skin. It is similar to the foundation but a thicker consistency used to hide different pigments by blending the imperfection into the surrounding skin tone. Think of it as a real-life photoshop, whatever you’re unhappy with you can cover it up in an instant. Concealers come in the following textures: liquid, balm, cream, and stick. Selecting the best one will depend on your skin type, whether your skin is dry, oily, normal, combination, or acne-prone. There’s a specific texture of concealer that’s going to be the right match for you. Nars cometic offers a wonderful selection of weightless concealer that has buildable coverage.

Mascara

Finally, mascara is the cherry-on-top to finish off the no makeup, makeup look. Mascara is commonly used to enhance the eyelashes but it’s so much more than that. It may darken, thicken, lengthen, and define the eyelashes and can be even used to fill the eyebrows also if done correctly. Who doesn’t love a multi-purpose product? Finding your perfect, go-to mascara is kind of like finding the perfect match on tinder. It’s really hard and very time consuming and you may even want to quit in the beginning and stick out with the dud you currently have in your possession. You’ll even have to swipe left several times, maybe even too many to keep track. But once you find the perfect one you’ll be oh so grateful and glad you never gave up on the search.

There you have it, five signature items you should have in your makeup bag to complete the no-makeup, makeup look.
