How To Get Away With Wearing A Maxi Dress All Year Round

Nothing to wear, try a maxi dress. Causal outing with friends, maxi dress. Basically the maxi dress is the universal go to item. You might think you can only wear it in warmer weather, but we have never been so happy to tell you otherwise! When styled correctly, you can get away with wearing a maxi dress all year round.

Spring

1. Tiered Maxi

This maxi dress just keeps going and going and going. The tiered maxi dress is a great way to welcome in spring. It is a retro style that has rebounded like a breath of fresh air style. The noticeable layers on the dress keep the look fun and relaxed. They break up the boxy shape that some dresses have when wearing them. Add height by pairing with wedges and carrying a statement purse! Extra points for matching shoes and purse colors.

2. Flutter Sleeves

This style of dress is as cute as it sounds. A flutter sleeve is faux sleeve that sits on your shoulders and typically moves as you do. It’s the perfect style for spring, because the temperature can fluctuate. This way you can still layer the dress with a light jacket or cardigan. You don’t have to worry about getting those lumps on your shoulder when layering either! Belt the maxi if you are worried about losing your shape.

3. Deep V

As the weather gets warmer, the dresses get sexier. The deep v maxi dress is a way to show a little skin, while still staying classy. Most maxi dresses will have a band around the rib cage where the material on either side of the deep v meets. This helps to also define your waist. From there the material falls to your feet, giving you the maxi dress look. This style if perfect if you are petite, it still shows off your assets while elongating your figure.

Summer

1. Off The Shoulder

Romance meets style with the off the shoulder maxi dress. This summer style is sure to sizzle from morning to night! Depending on the material and pattern, this style of dress goes from causal to dressy easily. Pair the dress with sandals and minimal jewelry for a more laid back look. If you want to dress it up a little bit, pair with matching heels and clutch. When you can’t decide between which look you want, buy a dress for each!

2. Wrap Dresses

Maxi dresses tend to give your body a boxy shape unintentionally. The traditional wrap around or faux wrap gives you the best of both worlds. You get an amazing shape with no effort and the dress is so extremely comfortable to wear. Add a wide brim hat and layered necklace, and you will be Instagram worthy in a matter of minutes.

3. Boho Style

Think loose, comfortable and light weight dresses. The best way to beat the summer heat, is with a bohemian maxi dress. This style of dress tends to bare a lot of skin. With that in mind go ahead and flaunt it! This is the style of a dress that you can really feel yourself in. Perfect for the beach, drinks with friends or even a late night date. Add your favorite footwear and purse so you’ll be ready to go.

Fall

1. T-Shirt Dress

Comfort meets style with the t-shirt dress. While many of you have worn the shorter versions before, the maxi style is just as amazing. It’s the perfect dress for running around doing errands but can still easily transition to night. Tie up the front of the dress to add some drama to the look. Accessorize with your best sneakers and over-sized sunglasses for the perfect day out outfit.

2. Long Sleeves

As the weather changes, so does the maxi dress style. Start to think of cooler weather outfits. One of the easiest ways to still wear a maxi, is by purchasing one with sleeves. Most times the sleeves add to the look, instead of taking away from it. With so many fabrics, there is a long sleeve maxi dress for every occasion. The hardest part will be just finding one!

3. Layered

If your favorite maxi dress isn’t actually made for cooler weather, don’t panic! A great way to still wear the dress is to layer it. Jean and motto jackets work best with this style of dress. Jean jackets keep it laid back. Motto jackets give your look a little more edge. Either way is great and you should choose which one works best for you. Don’t forget to pair with a cross body bag or clutch.

Winter

1. Side Split

Ughh, the snow and cold are the worst part of winter. However, that doesn’t have to stop you from wearing a maxi dress! While it makes sense that you would want to stay covered up in the cold, try a maxi dress with a side split. This way most of you stays covered and warm. But, you can also match a great pair of over the knee boots with the dress. Ta-da. Now you have the perfect winter maxi dress outfit.

2. Sweater Top

Who doesn’t love a good two for one bargain? We know we do! It’s all about how you choose to layer a maxi dress in the winter. Our favorite way is with a sweater over the dress. So the sweater acts as the top, while the bottom half of the maxi acts as a skirt. Make sure to pair a sweater that compliments the dress and vice versa. Plus, you can wear a summer style dress and no one will know the difference.

3. Small Print Florals

When you’re wishing for warm weather in the middle of winter, compromise and wear a maxi dress. This might sound a little unconventional, but it totally works. Especially dresses with smaller prints or muted colors. This keeps the dress from being too bright during the winter. If you’re still worried about being cold, pair the dress with tights and cute ankle boots. You’ll have the added warmth and the boots will give you more traction on the ice.
