How to Achieve the Farm Milan Aesthetic this fall

Farm Milan…ever heard of it? Odds are you may be a little confused on the aesthetic, but you all know it. Farm Milan consist of something along the lines of those over sized Levis, a cool pair of cowboy boots paired with something such as a blazer or a fierce bag that screams Milan. The key is getting in tune with that cool girl western aesthetic that is so popular right now and connecting it with city girl chic.

The first time I heard this term, farm Milan, was from a TikTok. Unfortunately I can not find the creator to give her credit, but she did a great job at explaining the aesthetic and showing examples that really resonated with me in a way I could relate to. Mixing two opposite aesthetics together, in my opinion, creates such a cool and unique vibe so here is how you do it!

Western Boots

First thing is first, you have got to stat a western boot collection. Start with one pair that you can style with everything, such as a great black pair. Now in my opinion, the best boots to achieve Farm Milan are knee high. Above the knee becomes trashy and ankle boots are out this season. Make sure that the boots you get can be paired with denim. And lastly make sure that they are as comfortable as they are cute. You have to be able to strut your stuff and do it confidently. In your boots you should be ready for anything that the day throws your way.

Demin

Next step to achieving the farm Milan aesthetic is through denim. Denim skirts, denim shorts, denim pants, denim jackets, anything goes. A majority of the denim you should look for is a lighter wash, but dark wash can work as well. You are looking for denim that represents the farm aspect of the aesthetic, not Milan. The denim can look a little worn out, almost as if you have spent the day riding horses. We are going for the denim that does not look expensive, but odds are it is because that is the trend at the moment. Denim is a key aspect of Farm Milan.

Leather

Another great fabric to incorporate into your Farm Milan aesthetic is leather. A leather jacket or bag, brings the Milan component to the farm. This works especially well while paired with denim AND your western boots. Now look we have already came up with one great outfit for your fall wardrobe that perfect resembles the Farm Milan aesthetic.

Statement Jacket

Every Farm Milan girl knows that a statement jacket is a great way to embody the aesthetic this fall. Leather is again a great option, but other materials including suede and fringe and more are great options too! Usually the jacket will tend to be more fitted, giving that slick Milan fashion look, but have a western flare. A denim jacket would also be a great way to go about a statement piece. Being that it is a statement jacket, it should be the main focus of the look. Meaning that the outfit should be built around the jacket. All the accessories and other parts of the look will be diced a based off of this jacket and without it the outfit would not make sense.

Now let us look at some more visual examples of the Farm Milan aesthetic to better understand the concept and get inspired!

1.

You can not go wrong with denim on denim when it comes to farm Milan. I would pair this look with more accessories to bring out the mIlan side. For example a chic hat and some black heeled boots would make this the perfect fall Farm Milan outfit.

2.

I love this look and the Farm Milan vibe this picture gives. The Moto bag and bomber jacket scream Milan, while the denim mini skirt and natural wavy hair scream farm. I would put her in some cool western boots if I were to style the rest of her look. The photo itself is also a great example of Farm Milan. The contracting woods in the background enhance the feeling of being in a. barn, and the clothes on the rack give a sense of one of the biggest fashion capitols in the world, Milan.

Obsessed with this Farm Milan work fit. She brings the farm with her posse fitted medium washed jeans. And then kills the Milan side with the chic blazer and a pop of red leather with the boots. This is a great color palette to achieve Farm Milan, black, and denim blue. Notice that this is the same color pallet as the American flag, achieving the farm side of the aesthetic. My goal is to show up to my job everyday in a Farm Milan outfit just like this one. A girl can dream.

Taking Farm Milan to street style. I love this look. The brown leather give a great sense of farm, while the monochromatic black dress and jacket give a unified Milan look. Together they create a killer vibe for the fall. Something else to notice about Farm Milan is that it is very versatile. You can wear it day or night, work or play, it works in almost every environment.

Although you can only see the back of this look, it is a great Farm Milan example. I love the way that suede, fringe and the color red are all represented in this picture. The statement jacket obviously makes it farm, but notice that the tall black boots are not western, but instead just black leather making it Milan. Her hair in messy pig tails also screams farm which I love. And as for the background scenery also farm. If I were styling the rest of the look as Farm Milan I would put a chic black dress under the statement jacket. It would be high neck and classy to bring in the Milan aspect of the look.
