11 Hobbies That Will Make People Think You’re Talented

Tired of seeing people on TV or online that obviously have their lives together? WIsh you could get that same kind of admiration, without putting in nearly as much effort? Here’s a list of easy to learn hobbies that will make people think there’s more to you than meets the eye.

1. Cooking

A tell-tale sign that someone has their life together, learning to cook and cook well is a great way to show people that you have patience and care about what you put in your body. Convincing people that you know how to cook takes little more than boiling water for pasta or following some very easy recipes. Of course, if you want to be Gordon Ramsay it’ll take a little more than that…

2. Dart Throwing

Hate going outside and want to be able to take out enemies ~10 feet away? Bullseye! Dart throwing is for you. Buy a dart board and some weapons darts, hang it up, and spend however long it takes to become and expert. This hobby will give you something to do, plus it’ll make people think you’re an assassin. That’s cool, right?

3. Rubik’s Cube Solving

While it has been deemed a popular benchmark for high intelligence, any Rubik’s Cube can actually be solved in no more than 20 moves. Learn these moves, and people will be calling you the next Rain Man.

4. Sewing

Fashion and stitch together clothes, by hand, and your friends will think you’re a magician. Sewing is one of the oldest hobbies in the world and you’ll thank yourself for learning how to do it when your pants split at the party, and you just happen to have your needle and thread.

5. Knitting

In the same skein (knitting joke), knitting is an easy skill to learn if you want people to think of you as the second coming of their grandmother. It takes a lot of patience and time, but at least at the end you wind up with fuzzy mittens.

6. Running

Get up, put on your running shoes, walk out of the door, and don’t come back until your legs are dead. Do that, and be able to make people feel bad about not having done the same. Plus, any hobbies that gets you exercising is worth trying at least once.

7. Minimalist Painting

If you’re looking for something a little more realistic, creating minimal works of art takes little to no technical skills at all, just a little creativity. People will think there is more to you than meets the eye, and as an artist you’ll finally have a reason to wear a beret.

8. Card Shuffling

Remarkably, learning to shuffle like you just stepped off the Las Vegas Strip is easier than dealers make it look. Practice a little finger control, and people will be thinking twice before they even place their bets.

9. Whistling

Just put your lips together and blow. And then get really, really good at it. Whistling can either be the most annoying talent you know or the most appealing. Either way, a good whistle will make your friends think of you as the songbird you know you are.

10. Learning to Meditate

Probably the most fruitful of hobbies, meditation is more of a way of life than it is a past-time. The path to mindfulness is long and tedious, but at the end you’ll find a new outlook on life, and a newfound respect given to you by your peers.

11. Learn a New Language

If all else fails, learning a new language will impress people while also making you impressed with yourself. Speaking differently from your mother tongue is difficult and should be met with admiration. And with over 5000 languages to choose from, the most difficult part may just be what language to choose. But if you do indeed choose and master a language, no one will call you untalented again.
