Here’s How to Up Your Everyday Summer Makeup Routine

Treat your makeup like jewelry for the face. Play with color, shapes, structure—it can transform you. – Francois Nars

Are you a makeup lover? Are you tired of doing the same makeup look every single day? If so, I have here some of the ways that you can up your Summer Makeup Routine. I won’t lie to you, I am no makeup smarty pants. I never wear make up, except for special occasions like weddings, but even then, I won’t apply a lot of makeup. I am a simple makeup kind of gal and I’m proud of it. But even if you’re nothing like me, that’s fine. We’re all different and this is a judgment free zone. Seriously though, if you want to change it up, check out some tips and tricks below!

Exfoliate your lips

Yes, you read that correctly. Before you add any lipstick or lipgloss, make sure that you exfoliate them first. Your lips need all the TLC (tender, love and care) too. By including this into your Summer Makeup Routine, your lips will thank you because it will get rid of any roughness or dryness that has been or is occurring. Then once your finished, you will have the softest and smoothest lips ever!

After your finished applying your lipstick or lipgloss, set them with tissue

If you’re anything like me, in the past when you have applied lipstick or lipgloss, you have probably just ran out the door and called it a day. But no. To up your Summer Makeup Routine, make sure to dab them with tissue that way you get rid of any access lipstick/lipgloss that may still be there. You can also use a translucent powder as well. This powder is like a glue for your makeup and makes sure that your lipstick/lipgloss doesn’t bleed out and I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to keep reapplying lipstick/lipgloss all day long.

Maintain your eyebrows

I truly don’t believe that I have seen so much eyebrow makeup in my life until these past couple of years. From darkening your eyebrows to lightning them up, to shaping them… it’s a whole ordeal and I promise you, I am not kidding. If you want to spice up your Summer Makeup Routine, make sure to maintain your eyebrows. If you asked “why?” Great question. Start off by combing your brows then fill them if needed. I never thought I would be in my bathroom brushing my eyebrows, but here we are and truthfully, I do it often and actually see a difference in the shape when I do it. It’s easy! Just use a spoolie brush and voila! It takes less than 15 seconds for each eyebrow then your done. Sometimes I will even add an eyebrow tint (one that is the same color or even a shade darker) to really make them pop and it truly does work.

Apply Foundation First

Before you add your blush, eye shadow, lipstick and everything in between, make sure that you add foundation first. It’s the base of the rest of your makeup. With foundation, you will create an even skin tone and hide any discoloration or imperfections that you do not want shown. If you don’t know this, then there are also 5 different kinds of foundation, so choose wisely and choose what best works for you. Once you have your foundation down, then you can add the rest of your makeup!

Organize, Organize, Organize

What is one of the biggest ways to up your Summer Makeup Routine? Organize all of your makeup! Yes, you read that correctly. If you know where all of your make up is, then your makeup routine in the mornings, afternoons or evenings will be SO much quicker. I am an organized person in general, but if you are not, don’t worry. Many people love messy and it’s actually quicker for them to do everyday tasks when their belongings (a.k.a makeup) is messy. If you do want to clean up your makeup, it’s easy. Purchase some organizers, purchase a makeup bag/large container and put everything in their own spot. If you need two bags/containers, so be it, it’s completely fine as long as you know where everything belongs and where it needs to go in case someone else uses your makeup.

Keep your Summer Makeup Routine simple

If you really and I mean really want to up your Summer Makeup Routine, then keep your makeup looks simple. In all seriousness, sometimes the simple, the better. Layered eyeshadow and fancy mascara looks take more time out your day especially if you’re trying to go all out. You’re beautiful just the way you are and I am not saying that lightly. Instead of doing layered eyeshadow, apply a light shade with just a couple layers of mascara. Then add some lipstick without the lip liner if you want. What’s my favorite makeup look? The no make-up look. It’s simply light shades and not a lot of makeup, but it looks chic and cute and the best part? All it takes is a couple minutes out of your day.
