Flannel is a very warm and versatile that is not just reserved for lumberjacks. If you have been wanting to incorporate some plaid flannel into your wardrobe but you are not quite sure how to do it in a cool way, we have some inspo for you to help you out! With fall coming up now is the perfect time to start getting into the flannel world.
When trying to embrace flannel into your wardrobe, it is important to remember one thing, muted colours! The only way you will avoid looking like a lumberjack, and look more cool and indie, muted colours is the way to do it. Gravitate towards any flannel shirt that looks like it is reclaimed vintage. This is a great opportunity to sift threw a thrift shop or vintage store, you will be able to find a super cool flannel shirt. There are an abundance of different tones you can choose from, all of which will look amazing no matter how you style them. Another great thing about getting a flannel shirt that is vintage or from a thrift shop is that it will be worn down, so it will be thinner. This makes it perfect for layering, and super easy if you want to tie it around your waist. Get ready to fall in love with flannel!
If you are a little nervous about styling flannel, layering it is a great way to start. Throw it underneath a denim jacket, leather jacket, or any other jacket of your choosing. If you want a little more of a preppy look you can wear it underneath a knitted jumper and expose the collar. As long as the colour is muted you won’t feel so self-conscious, especially if you are a little nervous to wear flannel. Keep in mind that the less comfortable you are with flannel, just show less of it, simple. If all else fails, wear it with confidence and no one will think twice.
If shirts are not your thing, you can rock a plaid skirt. Plaid skirts are super cute and are slowly coming back into fashion. If you have always wanted to live your 90’s school girl dreams, here is your chance. Plaid skirts are the ultimate fall fashion piece, they are super cute. There is a multitude of different tones available, so if the plaid print is a little too daring for you, there is sure to be a more muted pattern out there to suit you! This is one of my personal fav pieces in my wardrobe right now, you can keep it cute with a white turtle neck jumper, or if you are feeling a little more edgy, a leather jacket and boots looks beyond cute paired with it. Definitely a must-have in your plaid collection!
If you are feeling a little more daring, try out some plaid pants! Now, this may not be for everyone, but don’t knock it until you try it. More and more we are seeing people making the show-stopping part of their outfit, their pants. Don’t feel discouraged if you don’t think you will be able to rock coloured plaid pants, there are super cute styles that are available in muted tones like greys and whites, this is a great way to take a baby step into daring fall fashion! Give them a go, plaid could be your new go-to choice of pattern.
