10 Hairstyles To Do This Year

Hairstyles can make or break your mojo! It can be maddening trying to find the perfect hairstyle for you, but we are here to help with a list of our 10 favorite hairstyles to rock this year! Scroll for all the inspiration you could need!

1. Chandelier Bangs

Chandelier bangs are becoming one of the most popular hairstyles for all lengths for 2020, but especially when it is paired with long layers from curly to straight. These bangs are the bomb, from the tropics to the Midwest! All bangs, from soft side-swept bangs, curtain bangs, and middle-part bangs are all trending, especially the middle-part bangs paired with chandelier layer cut (long, soft layers). If you want to get the same look, you need to ask for long layers at the back and smooth graduated layers to frame your facial features.

2. Short Bangs

These bangs, unlike other hairstyles with bangs, sit right above the eyebrows, making them a bit shorter than other trendy hairstyles. Cutting bangs with a certain amount of fringe is not easy and hairstylists warn other hairstylists and female customers about short bangs. These bangs are a lot of work for certain hair types. For most customers, hair texture plays a significant part in how short your bangs can go. You need to keep in mind that curly textures tend to shrink as they dry, so when your stylist is cutting, be sure your hair is dry.

3. Curtain Bangs

Do you want bangs without the effort? Curtain bangs are as low-maintenance as they are attractive this year. These bangs are the gateway to bangs, in general, due to them being a versatile fashion sense. These bangs are long enough to grow out or pin back when you want if they get in your face, but they can also be cut into a shorter look. If you are on the noncommittal side when it comes to your hairstyles, consider this your potential match if you like low-maintenance bangs with a pixie cut, a bob, or a lob.

4. The New Pixie

This year’s take on pixie cuts are either super short or a little longer than normal. There’s no in-between on the runway or in salons nowadays. The super-short hairstyle length for models or the modern, working female feels very sophisticated for the new decade. The shorter the haircut is, the more the hairstyle provides a fresh and breathable quality for the new year.

5. Polished Bobs

Polished bobs are becoming one of the most popular hairstyles for 2020, which will be all about structure, unlike the messy texture (which is out of style), in comes the polished structure. The fuzzy, bedhead hair has been replaced for a more sophisticated and sleek style for all lengths and layers. Polished bobs offer blunt thick lines in haircuts instead of shattered texture, so if you want to perfect this look, you should ask for a blunt, heavy line with no texture. Trade in your matte texturizers for shine sprays.

6. Strong Bob or a Blunt Bob

Girls in California and other states are keeping their hairstyles blunt like the strong bob. The strong bob, or the blunt bob, is on the rise in big cities like San Francisco. The strong bob is becoming a 2020 statement for salons and customers that prefer the sophisticated and sleek style, which is the new sexy hairstyle. It works with any hair texture, but if yours is dense, ask your stylist to thin your hair out first before they style it.

7. Shattered Bob

The shattered bob offers little to no layering to be found in this edgy bob, but that doesn’t mean it’s your basic blunt/strong bob hairstyle. The shattered bob’s cut offers a dimensional texture to the ends of the hair to create an element of movement. This hairstyle, unlike other hairstyles, works best when your hair is medium in texture, which does not have a fine or a not very coarse hair texture.

8. Modern Shag

The ’70s are calling and people are answering and will continue to do so next year. The modern shag hairstyle is a mainstay for 2020 and the year after. In 2020, Allure and other magazines like Glamour are seeing an updated version of the 70’s styling by modernizing it to fit the modern tastes that women crave. This hairstyle, like most of the hairstyles, is sexy, strong, and flattering for most of the females who want to try this modern shag hairstyle. If you try a shag hairstyle with or without a strong fringe, which has cut-away for long or short hair, it depends on the hybrid of the mullet and the shag. The modern shag hairstyle works for curly hair, straight hair, long, mid-length, and even shorter hair.

9. Long Lob

The long lob looks good with a variety of hairstyle lengths (short to long), which makes it perfect for all face shapes and hair types from frizzy, curly, or straight. When this hairstyle grows out more, i.e., past your collarbone and around your shoulders—it makes it even easier to style and manage than your original hairstyle.

10. Long Shag

The long shag hairstyle is still going strong, but this style gives it a 2020 update with long layers by keeping the signature bangs. This long shag hairstyle is awesome for any length, hair texture, and face shape. The long shag hairstyle also has been one of the top requested hairstyles for the past year due to its effortless look on models, celebrities, and most working women in the United States.
