Padded jackets are a trend this autumn, and although it sucks to replace our bathing suits and shorts with jackets, we have to do it in order to save ourselves from hypothermia. But actually, it doesn’t have to suck! Surprising, I know. You can go ahead and embrace the fall season because jackets can be just as fun to style as your summer favorites.
A velvet padded jacket screams autumn. The velvet gives the jacket a classier look than it’s nylon counterpart, making it easy to dress up. This look says, “Yeah, I’m rocking a padded jacket, but it’s a fancy padded jacket.” Pinkies up, ladies.

Cropped padded jackets add a little bit of flare to the traditional padded jacket. Because it’s cropped, the jacket gives off a street-style kind-of vibe. Cropped and in a vibrant color makes even more of a statement. How far a little jacket can go!

Anything fur-lined is classy, duh. But because padded jackets can be so versatile, a little bit of fur goes a long way in making this an acceptable date night look. And with most padded jackets, the fur-lined collar is actually detachable, so you can rock this jacket either way.

Leopard print obviously looks good on anything–pants, a blouse, accessories. But have you ever thought of rocking a leopard-print padded jacket? This look instantly adds visual interest to any look, keeping you warm and keeping you looking your coolest.

With all the patterns and fits showing up on this list, I had to include a classic padded jacket because they are, after all, the jacket that started everything. A classic cut is easy to pull off, but a classic cut in a jewel tone is perfect for fall–you’ve just entered into the fashion Olympics, and you’re awarded gold.

Sometimes called a “boyfriend jacket,” this style jacket looks like you’ve raided your man’s closet and this is what you’ve chosen to walk the dog in before bed. Padded jackets come in all shapes and sizes, but any jacket that makes me look like I’ve got a boyfriend, sign me up.

I think we can all agree that plaid is a perfect pattern for fall. And plaid padded jackets are no exception. Padded jackets are perfect for fall and so is plaid, so this is basically a match made in fashion heaven. And because padded jackets usually don’t come in patterns as such, you’ll be quite the trendsetter.

Texture and visual interest is everything when it comes to clothing. And corduroy marks both those boxes. This textile is perfect for fall, and takes any padded jacket (which usually come in only one or two choices of fabrics) to the next level.

Okay, so, this padded jacket isn’t actually vintage. But it is vintage-inspired. And who can tell the difference anyway? This jacket is straight out of the 80s, and because of the vibrant colors, it adds a spark of summer fun on a windy fall afternoon.

This is a serious cold weather jacket. Rain? Check. Snow? Check. Looking cool? Check. This padded jacket is both fashionable and practical, which is quite an amazing feat for just a jacket.
