Fall is the season when the East coast is at its best, the weather is surprisingly mild and there are so many fun things to do. Here are 10 fun fall activities to try in Boston.

1. Rent Bikes

Fall is the perfect time to rent bikes and ride around the city. It is often too hot and humid in the summer to enjoy biking around for fun, but in early fall it is the perfect time to go for a ride. You can rent city bikes almost anywhere in Boston, and ride through Cambridge, along the Charles, or in downtown if you are feeling adventurous. This is a great way to see the city and especially when the leaves are changing color.

2. Apple Picking

Apple picking is a new England tradition that is surprisingly fun. Especially if you are not from the East coast, it is a unique fall tradition that you should try at least once while in Boston. This is great to try on a warm day in the fall to get outside and away from the city for a bit. If you love to bake it is fun to make fall themed baked goods with your apples. This is the essential fall activity, and there are so many apple orchards close to Boston it is a super easy activity to do.

3. Watch the Head Of the Charles Regatta

For anyone who is a fan of sports, this is one of the largest regattas in the world, and you can watch crew teams from all over the country compete on the Charles. This is a great way to take in the fall scenery and watch a fun event. Even if you don’t know much about crew, it is still entertaining to watch and easy to follow, and afterward you can explore Harvard Square. You can stay for just one race, or watch as many as you want, and get to experience a unique major sporting event.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is a unique art museum that was started by a wealthy woman in the beginning of the 20th century. If you are a football fan, you can watch the Patriots play in a home game in Gillette stadium during the fall. 9. Get Dinner in The North End

The North End is another historic part of Boston that is a great place to visit. This small Italian neighborhood is full of authentic Italian restaurants. You can walk down the street and pick any restaurant and you will be guaranteed a great meal. The small and charming streets make you feel like you are actually in Italy, and this is a great place to explore. The Boston public library is beautiful and has classical architecture as well as a modern portion.
