Today is the day. Your Freshman Orientation at UD, the official start to your college career. Orientation is both exciting and stressful because you’re meeting a ton of new faces. To ease the stress, this is how you orientation schedule will go!
This is your first impression on everyone, so you try to pick out the best outfit and end up changing a million times. You’ll probably go with the first outfit you tried on.
Check in and then go sit in a giant auditorium at Trabant where there is a complimentary breakfast and coffee.
Your parents go off into their own info sessions and you are joined with your orientation group who you will spend most of your time with.
You walk to a different room with your new group and start doing ice breakers with your classmates and NSO (New Student Orientation) leader, who is extremely excited and full of life, while you are awkward and acting shy. Everyone feels the same way, trust me.
You go to your information session about UD. Which is tons and tons of information that can feel overwhelming but its also very interesting. You then split up into your specific majors to go to a lecture about your major. These are your real classmates right here. Be friendly and maybe even get their numbers.
Lunch time! You get a free lunch at the Trabant Center.
You go to a drug and alcohol talk which helps you understand how safe the University actually is.
It’s time to get your ID! This is the fun part. You’ll have this card for all 4 years so don’t lose it.
The day ends around 4:30 and you’ll be tired, hot, and your feet will hurt. But you’ll be so excited to become a Blue Hen!
Enjoy your time getting to know everyone and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Everyone is going through the same experience, so don’t be nervous!
