10 Easy Protein Shake Recipes That Taste Phenomenal

Staying motivated to workout and eat healthily can be really hard- especially when most protein shake recipes end up tasting less than desirable. These 10 protein shake recipes will help give you healthier, tastier options for a tried and true classic.

1. Iced Coffee Protein Shake

This protein shake combines the best of both worlds. Not only are you getting in your morning coffee, but you’re also getting a great source of protein and fiber too! For this recipe, you’ll need to start with two cups of ice in a blender. Add a whole cup of cold coffee, 3/4 cups almond milk (or regular milk if you prefer), a frozen banana and a scoop of chocolate protein powder. Mix until smooth (there should be no chunks) and you’re ready to go!

2. Pina Colada Protein Shake

This protein shake will make you feel like your sitting on a tropical beach working on your tan; and after a long workout, is there really anything better? (Okay. Maybe the ACTUAL beach would be better. But this is a close second!). Start with a cup of ice and a whole cup of coconut milk in a blender. Then, add 1/2 cup of canned (or fresh if you’re bougie) pineapple and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Blend until smooth, add in a fancy umbrella and enjoy!

3. Chocolate PB Banana Protein Shake

This protein shake features a classic combination with a twist! Channel your inner Elvis with this high protein, high potassium shake! Start by mashing two whole bananas and put them in a blender, then add one tbsp of peanut butter, and a cup of almond milk (or regular milk if you prefer). Top it all off with 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder and blend! You’ll go absolutely nuts over this shake!

4. Creamsicle Protein Shake

This shake tastes just like an orange creamsicle, except this creamsicle is packed with protein and calcium! One taste of this protein shake and you’ll feel like a kid again! For this recipe, start by peeling two large oranges. Put the orange slices into a blender with 1 cup of ice. Then add a scoop of vanilla protein powder and half a cup of Greek Yogurt. Blend everything together with 1/2 a cup of almond milk and you’re good to go!

5. Berry Protein Shake

This protein shake is super classic, and it will probably become your go-to since the ingredients are already most likely in your fridge. To make this protein shake, you’ll need to mix 1/4 cup raspberries with 1/2 cup of strawberries and 1/4 cup blueberries. Add 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder, 2 cups of milk and a handful of ice. Blend until smooth and you’re all set!

6. Chocolate Covered Strawberry Protein Shake

This protein shake is great for when you’re craving a little something sweet! To make this shake, combine a cup of strawberries with half a cup of plain greek yogurt in a blender with a cup of ice. Add a scoop of chocolate protein powder and 1/2 cup of almond (or regular) milk. Blend it all together and indulge in this decadent shake!

7. Blueberry Almond Protein Shake

This protein shake is as refreshing as it is delicious and super easy to make! Mix a scoop of vanilla protein powder with 1/2 cup of almond milk, 1/2 cup blueberries and a tbsp of almond butter in a blender and blend until smooth. It’s so good you’ll actually want to drink it ALL the time!

8. Mixed Berry Coconut Protein Shake

This recipe adds a tropical element to an already great tasting protein shake. If you’re a fan of coconut, you’ll LOVE this shake. It’s truly delicious year-round, but this one is particularly good after a long hot workout over the summer. Combine two scoops of vanilla protein powder with 1/2 a cup of frozen (or fresh) mixed berries in a blender with a cup of ice. Then, add one cup of coconut milk and 1/4 cup of shredded coconut. Mix all of this together and blend until smooth!

9. Kiwi Banana Protein Shake

While most people probably wouldn’t put kiwi on their list of ingredients for protein shakes, you definitely don’t want to sleep on this recipe! Kiwis are packed with tons of vitamins and potassium, so they’re a super great snack on their own. Combine that with some protein and you’ve got yourself a super shake! For this shake, you’re going to start by peeling and dicing two kiwis. Add the kiwis into a blender with one ripe banana and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Blend with a handful of ice and 1/2 cup of plain yogurt and 2 tsp of honey and you’re all done! Just a heads up-this protein shake will turn out to be a very bright green color. So if you’re one of those people who eat with their eyes, be warned! This color is not for the weak!

10. Mint Cookie Protein Shake

This protein shake will taste so good it’ll make you ask the question: “Is there protein in here?!” Really anything that combines mint and chocolate can’t be bad, it’s just common knowledge! Mint is such a strong flavor, so it helps to mask the chalky aftertaste protein powder can sometimes leave behind. If you like mint chocolate chip ice cream, this protein shake is right up your alley! Start off with 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder in a blender. Add 4 ounces of almond milk, one mint leaf and 2 drops of peppermint extract. This stuff is REALLY strong so be timid with the amount you put in until you figure out how much mint is too much for your own taste. Add a cup of ice and blend until smooth! If cutting down on the sweets is something you’ve been trying to do, give this shake a try. It tastes just like a mint chocolate cookie without all the guilt!
