5 Dog Breeds Perfect For Small Spaces

There are certain dog breeds that you just can’t resist. And some of them will surprise you with how comfortable they are in small spaces. Just because some dog breeds are larger, doesn’t mean they won’t be comfortable in a smaller space. With the right care and regime, any of these 5 dog breeds will be more than comfortable in a small space.

Yorkshire Terrier

Probably the main reason these tiny balls of cuteness are so popular, aside from their irresistible big brown eyes, is their hair-like coat. Because of the unique coat (which doesn’t have an undercoat), this dog breed doesn’t shed, so you don’t have to worry about that. Just make sure you brush your Yorkie regularly, otherwise their coat tangles, just like human hair.

Their size might be small, but their personalities are big. If trained properly they will be comfortable and confident in any big city. Of course, this dog breed’s size makes it the perfect companion in a small space. It will happily take naps with you and stay in on rainy days. But regular walks are important, so it doesn’t get bored.

French Bulldog

Who doesn’t love a cute little Frenchie. This seems to be one of the dog breeds that have gained popularity in recent years. Whether it’s because of their perfect urban size or their affectionate personality. They are easy to groom and have a lovely smile. The Frenchie is relatively easy to train and a great cuddle companion. Be sure to take your Frenchie out on regular walks, because they can be really energetic and their potential for playfulness may turn into potential to break some things in a small space. Did you know that the French Bulldog was bred to be a great companion?

Mini Poodle

Miniature Poodles seem to have overthrown a lot of dog breeds in London recently. They seem to be everywhere. And with good reason, they really are a great breed. Keep in mind that this breed’s legs have to be long enough that their height is approximately equal to their length. Otherwise, when they are closer to the ground, they may have more health issues.

They are an athletic breed and will need regular walks but their size makes them great companions for smaller spaces. They are most happy when they are being challenged, so they will enjoy games like hide and seek or fetching named toys.

Shiba Inu

One of the star breeds, the Shiba Inu is best known for its representation in the film ‘Hachi: A Dog’s Tale’. It’s an independent dog, which is average in size and can fit well in a small space. Having said that, if you are looking to get a Shiba Inu for a small space, you have to make sure they have a rigorous daily exercise. Just like other dog breeds with high energy levels, the Shiba Inu is best suited for people who already lead an active life. It’s not a beginner’s bog, but it is a really unique breed.

Golden Retriever

Of the dog breeds on this list, this is on the larger side. However, while they are big in size and personality, they are really easy to train and therefore will be comfortable living in small spaces. They are of the great apartment dog breeds. They are a great cuddle companion, as well as a great running companion. They are also really good with children and make a perfect family dog. They are one of the dog breeds most likely to get hired as a therapy dog. That may or may not be due to the fact that they are considered the 4th smartest dog breed in the world. The Golden gets along well with other animals and will be a great companion for everyone in your space.
